Customer Review: Excellent Purchase Decision!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using my Ergotron monitor arm for just about a year now and it does an excellent job of holding up my 22 inch LG Flatron L22WTG display! I cannot imagine going back to using a monitor without an arm like this one.

Setup was a bit complicated as the included instructions are confusing but after some study I got everything setup without any problems. The included tools to tighten the tension is a must and requires a bit of trial and error to get just right. However, once I got that part set I've not had to readjust the tension on the arm in a year. That there says a lot about the quality of this product!

The range, and ease, of motion is outstanding! I'm constantly moving the arm and display around for various reasons. My desktop computer does double duty serving as a traditional desktop work and gaming station as well as my HDTV and DVR via the attached tuner. There are times when I'll swing the display over so I can watch TV or movies from the couch or swing it the other way to watch TV while cooking in the kitchen. The ease with which I can adjust the distance the display is from me eases eye strain on those occasions when I'm doing a lot of work at the desk.

I cannot state enough just what an excellent product this is and I'm already planning to buy from this company again when I get a new iMac in a few months!

Customer Review: Excellent build, materials and quality
Summary: 5 Stars

This thing is STRONG. I was unable to find any confirmaton that it would hold up a 22" widescreen before I purchased it, but I dove in and got one. There is absoluutely no question about it working w/ a 22" monitor. The spring only had to be slightly adjusted from where it came set at. I would by surprised if it didn't support a 30" widescreen. I have the same complaints as most of the reviews I saw, the fact that it doesn't "lock" in a 0 and 90 deg position (not that tough to deal with) and the cable retainers are definitely not up to the quality of the rest of the piece (seems like an afterthought). With proper zip-tying, cables can be tucked in there w/o it popping out though. I have a vga, usb, audio and power cable all zip tied and it is still held in by the cable retainers.

Only con I could really find, in certain configurations, it can get bound up (I have it mounted close to the wall, and the arm can bang into the wall at times). At the moment, because of the way I have it set I can't push it up against the wall.

Other than that, I LOVE the neatness it provides, you get to use 100% of your desk top and you can sit in just about any manner and still move the monitor into a comfortable view. I like being able to tuck it up towards the top of my hutch when I'm not using my monitor.

Customer Review: Good Product, a few issues though
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this back in December so I've been working with this product for about 4-5 months. Overall, I am satisfied with the product.

Some issues I've had with the product.

1) be completely sure you have an area to mount this as there is not a lot of wiggle-room to its footprint. In other words, you need quite a bit of unobstructed desk space to mount this. if you leave an edge of the clamp off of the desk you can really see an adverse effect on the stability of the unit.

2) Sometimes it feels like you have to wrestle with this thing to both move physical locations (from desk to desk, house to house etc) and positions on the desk. The movements it seems to take are unnatural to say the least. For example, moving the monitor to rest on one side of the post or the other requires a lot of room to full extend it etc. in other words, this item is NOT conducive to small areas as a lot of room is needed to position the unit

3) the mechanism that holds the vertical height on the unit seems to deteriorate. I use this to run dual monitors with another monitor that is on a stand and this arm has trouble holding a constant height. it droops after a while.

overall, I am satisfied with it.

Customer Review: It works with the greatest of ease.....
Summary: 5 Stars

....holding my Dell 2007WFP flat panel monitor. This is a well-made piece; it is very adjustable allowing you to place your monitor anywhere within the range of the arm and allowing both portrait and landscape positioning of your monitor. As a previous reviewer stated, you need to do your homework before you place and mount this monitor arm. I had to drill a small hole through my desktop as the edges of my desk would not allow clamp mounting. If it is obvious you cannot clamp mount the arm, then you need to ensure you can safely drill through your desk, be able to reach the mounting bolt and be able to tighten the nut. I chose to discard the somewhat small wing nut and use a larger nut and washer; I tightened the whole assembly with a wrench. In addition, the instructions show a "straight on" positioning of the arm (the arm is directly behind the monitor) but you might want or need to mount it to the side (like I needed to). If you do this, make sure the arm will position the monitor to your liking within its range of movement ...a bit more homework for you. When properly mounted, the arm is rock-solid and once you get all the joint spring tensioning squared away your monitor will move with the greatest of ease.

Customer Review: Performs excellent on an Acer 22" LCD monitor.
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this item to save desk space. I reseached a lot of potential LCD arms and this one seemed to provide the best value. It arrived on time and packed securly. I rarely read instructions but I noticed that some of the comments on Amazon indicated people having trouble adjusting it to work with their monitor so in this case I read the instructions closely and carefully. The instructions are fairly short and pretty straight forward. The arm easily installed as advertised and supports my 22" Acer monitor (model AL2216W) perfectly...after making the proper adjustments which were very easy to make. It is clamped to the back of my desk which is 3/4" thick press board. Make sure you check the dimensions of your desk before ordering. In making the adjustments I would suggest testing the holding strength frequently so that you don't unecessarily overtighten the springs. I would also suggest not tighting it so the monitor can be set extremely high unless you really use your monitor set at a level above your eyes. I took a chance since I have no idea what my monitor weighs and the arm is supposed to only be good up to 20 lbs. I figured I could return it if it did not work. I highly recommend this arm.
