Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Duracell 67487 - AAA Cell NiMH Rechargeable Battery 4 Pack (DC2400B4N)

Customer Review: All they are supposed to be, plus a couple of mAh's
Summary: 4 Stars

OK. So notice most of the complaints are about the shipping time not the quality of the product.

Ordered 3/26 received in two days with prime.

As others have mentioned these are 900mAh batteries.

Ran the 4 cells through a few charge-discharge cycles on a BC-900 charger (also a good product available here). All of the batteries tested above 900mAh. 902, 926, 928, and 937mAh. This is with only a few cycles on them so it might creep up later but should not be much.

This is better performance than less expensive brands (ultralast, etc.) Those seem to test at only about 50% of the cells above the stated capacity, although they are often at least 85% of listed capacity.

Just my experience, with a small sample size. Choose which is best for you.

Would be 5 stars but could be a bit less expensive. Only a minor complaint.

Update 8/2/06

Used these in a GPS unit and MP3 Player mainly. Probably have been recharged around 10x each. Retested now they are at 900, 924, 930, and 932. so not much change

Customer Review: 900 milli-Amp hours with Duracell quality
Summary: 5 Stars

It's four triple-A batteries as advertised. You'll have to charge them overnight before the first use. After that, they last a *really* long time on that single charge - pretty much like a standard non-charging copper-top in typical AAA devices like remote controls. Then they recharge fully again and again.

When evaluating rechargeable batteries, the most important factor is the milli-Amp hours abbreviated mAh. For AA batteries there is wide variation, so you want at least 2400 mAH (up to 2800 is available, but avoid the low ratings under 2000). For AAA batteries like these, I haven't seen much variety. A rating of 900mAh is the most common. I think I saw 1,000 on these Duracells before discarding the package, but sadly I can't confirm.

If you see a cheap price advertised in the Sunday circular ads, closer inspection usually reveals a sub-par mAh rating. I checked Radio Shack, Best Buy, and drug stores before buying these (and some AA's) from Amazon. For the same rating, you just can't beat Amazon's price with free shipping.

Customer Review: 5 STARS - 900 mAh capacity NiMH Rechargable Duracell AAA batteries; great value!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was pleased that these weren't the 750 mAh batteries the whining reviewer got; although for the price, 750 mAh isn't a terrible thing, it's just not as great a deal as 900 mAh capacity for the same price.

Since they're from Duracell, and they were manufactured in Japan, you can be sure these batteries are top quality; I have no reason to believe that this is not the case (they arrived a couple of hours ago), but if they are anything but wonderful, I will update this review within 24 hours. We'll definintely know about the initial quality by then. Otherwise, if something goes wrong with these later, we will definitely update our review.

So unless you hear otherwise, rest assured that purchasing these batteries, especially if you get free shipping, is an absolute no-brainer if you need AAA size batteries...for anything. Flashlights, cameras, anything: 900mAh AAA NiMH Batteries are as good as it gets right now, and to get namebrand quality at this price is a treat (we paid <9 dollars shipped).

Customer Review: It takes FOREVER for delivery.
Summary: 1 Stars

I placed my order on January 12. After paying, Amazon tells you how long it will take to deliver:

"Shipping estimate for these items: February 7, 2006 - February 21, 2006
Delivery estimate: February 13, 2006 - February 28, 2006"

I thought maybe that was just a very conservative estimate, but it's now Feb 22nd, and Amazon just changed the shipping date AGAIN to sometime in late March, so I canceled the order. I'm just annoyed because I was trying to save a few bucks, but since these took so freakin long to arrive, I had to shell out money for alkalines to hold me over. I should have just bought these from Wal-Mart for maybe like a dollar more. I'm sure the batteries would have been great, but Buyer Beware - don't get these from Amazon if you need them in a hurry.

Customer Review: Same issues as first reviewer
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't order these if you need them any time soon. I'm coming up on two months since I ordered and still nothing. It's difficult to understand how their supplier can't get these more quickly since these are fairly readily available at retail locations. I too ordered these from Amazon thinking I'd save a few $ but honestly now spending a few more dollars and having them in my hand seems like it might be a better choice. The batteries are great my complaint here is with Amazon.
