Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable for iPod and iPhone (White)Customer Review: It works & it does not work Summary: 3 Stars
I bought the cable for my work computer and when the cable arrived I tried it on my home computer. Total failure, cycled through connecting and disconnecting continuously so I was disappointed. I planned to return the cable but I decided to take it to work and see if I had the same results there. Actually I had better results, it worked like the original Apple Cable. Both computers are Dell, both are running Windows XP but the home computer is several years old while my work computer is almost two years old. I am not gonna waste time trying to find out the exact reason why it works on one computer over another, I am happy that it works on the computer I bought it for.
Customer Review: I received an Apple Cable - Pleasantly Surprised Summary: 5 Stars
For the $2.95 price tag through Amazon, I figured I would get a knockoff, but since I wanted a spare for my car and laptop, I figured it was worth risking the $2.95. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these were Apple cables and after close inspection and comparing to the cable that came with my ipod, they were identical. Cables fit great and seem to work great. I was happy that I ordered 2. A bargain.
Looks like mixed reviews on this product. My order was fullfilled by Amazon, looks like between when I ordered and when I posted my review, that changed. So I don't know if that makes the difference.
I was happy with my purchase though.
Customer Review: Company Made a Good Attempt To Correct Mistake Summary: 3 Stars
I originally posted:
"I sent an email stating that the cord they advertised as iphone compatible is not! It does not work with several different plugs that I have. I emailed them between Dec. 8 and 10 and I never heard back. Totally awful experience."
That was on 12/31.
They can't go back and fix the 4 week communication miss, but they did follow up and replace the cord free of charge without the need to send the old one back. They also offered me a free blue tooth headset, which I don't need, but I appreciate the offer.
Also, the product is still not Apple as advertised so I'm not inclined to give them a really high rating.
Customer Review: Not an Apple brand cable. Summary: 1 Stars
I'm just adding my voice to the chorus: I ordered the cheap (less than $2) cable and it is not an Apple brand cable despite the claim on the product page. ("By Apple" next to the item's name, "Apple's handy USB 2.0 interconnect" in the description.) I think Amazon should move the non-Apple brand cables to a different item number and specify that it is not an Apple brand part. The wire used is far cheaper feeling and less flexible than the original. The connectors are flimsier and do not grip the iPod as well as the original.
For the price, I'm not too upset at the quality, but regardless of price I'm not happy with the misrepresentation of the brand.
Customer Review: Good but not as advertised Summary: 2 Stars
The cable seems to work OK but the iPod/iPhone connector at the "iPod end" is larger than a genuine Apple connector, so it may not fit through some cases that have tight clearance. Otherwise the cable seems fine and works well.
BUT, the seller uses a picture of an actual Apple branded cable and calls it an "Apple Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable". Under that they have a link to "Other products by Apple" even though this isn't a product by Apple.
Now for $3.29, I knew I wasn't getting an Apple branded unit, but they shouldn't misrepresent it. It should say iPod cable and/or list the manufacturer and they should have an accurate picture.
