Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable for iPod and iPhone (White)Customer Review: Worked Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this cable as a spare to keep in my laptop case. The cable that arrived seemed identical in every way to the cable that shipped with my iphone 3G, except that it did not include the Apple logo on the USB plug. Even under a magnifying glass every detail and color was the same, and it functioned perfectly as a power and sync cable. These may be made by the same company that makes them for apple, except they can't legally use the apple logo since it's not sold directly by Apple.
I was surprised at the many 1 star reviews, and sadly suspect that some or many were posted by disgruntled merchants who have been selling replacement cables for much higher prices. I don't have any proof of this however it's common ambush marketing. This is only a hunch however based on these reviews I put this cable through a battery of tests. The cable that Amazon shipped was fine. It was shipped in a small plastic bag, not an ornate package; however, that is why this cable can be sold for under $3!
I always felt the $10 and $15 sync cable replacements were a rip-off -- it's just a cable folks. Highly recommended and a good value.
Customer Review: Cheap, it works, and it's from Apple!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this iPod nano (1st generation) from my home boy for 15 bucks. He said he didn't have an extra cord to give to me. So the iPod was basically useless until I got one. So I instantly knew one would be on Amazon because its AMAZON!!!!. I saw the price and instantly preceded with buying the item.
And then I read the reviews. I thought "damn." Its fake, and I hate, hate, HATE!!! fake items. So I read the bad and good reviews and most of them said they were not authentic even though it did work, but some said the ones they ordered were from apple.
So I waited for the item to come in the mail. I ordered it on Tuesday, September 14 and it came on Friday, September 17.
And to my surprise it was actually from Apple. I ordered from the OEM shop which apparently everybody didn't buy from. But they do sell authentic items. I connected the iPod to my computer to put songs on it and and it worked beautifully. And I am very happy with my purchase because I didn't have to pay 20 dollars from apple.
So my advice buy from the OEM shop and you'll receive an authentic iPod connector cable.
Customer Review: Works Great for a while Summary: 4 Stars
I originally bought another third-party cable for my 1st generation Nano, and it wouldn't let me sync to my computer. Nor would the second one that I got after going to customer service. This one works. I have not had any problems with it. Plus, it was cheaper than the original one that I tried! It also does NOT have those two buttons on the side that make it hard to take the cable out of the iPod. It also works plugged into a charger (one of those plugs that has the USB port thing and the metal prongs on the other).
EDITED: The quality is just okay, and the plastic surrounding the wires will slowly come out of where it's attached to the USB and part that you plug into the iPod. That never really seemed to be a problem. I also have the problem of keeping most of my chargers on the floor near the outlet that I plug them in to, and today when I tried to simply charge my iPod, my computer didn't recognize the device. It wouldn't even charge. It's possible I stepped on it, or something fell on it, or whatever. This cheap cable only lasted me four months, but that's not too bad.
Customer Review: Great cheap cable Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered two of these, and both are great. Both work flawlessly with my iPod Touch with OS 4.1 on Windows XP and Mac OSX 10.4. A lot of reviews said they were unable to connect or whatever, but this cord worked the same as any other iPod cord I've used on both my computers.
Although it is a bit misleading to show the actual Apple product in the picture, and the one sent is just a cheap Chinese (assumed) replica, they're all the same in the end, plastic coated copper. Plus this only costs $1.25! Do you really think Steve Jobs is going to let an authentic Apple product sell for that little? Get real.
This is a great cord, at a great price. I bought two; one of them as a replacement for the Griffin wall charger I lost the cord for, and it actually ended up being better than the Griffin one in that it allows sound to be played from it or the headphone jack while charging, and the Griffin one did not.
In the end, I really don't see how anyone could possibly give this $1.25 cable anything but a 5 star review.
Customer Review: Dock Connector to USB 2.0 for iPod Summary: 4 Stars
I needed to get another cable because the connector jack on my original cable had cracked. It still worked but could easily short something out. Most of the replacement cables are very expensive for what they are and the aftermarket ones generally do not sync properly to iTunes. The price was right for this cable and so I thought I would give it a try.
I was surprised how quickly it arrived in the mail.
The jack that plugs into my iPod was a bit tight. It appears to be ever so slightly larger than the original. However, it does fit. When I plugged the USB connector into my PC, iTunes came up and sync'd as expected. So this cable does everything the original Apple cable does.
Except for slight difference in size of the connector to the iPod, this is a cost efficient means of replacing the original cable that came with your iPod. I recommend it highly. As well, the vendor was very quick and efficient and I would likely do business with him again if the need arises.
