These cables are junk. They work about half the time, and caused me to mess up my iPhone when doing a software update. I dug up my OEM cable and did the upgrade (same USB port) and it went fine (although I had to restore my phone). Thinking that it was just a fluke, I tried to update another iPhone. Same thing, got halfway through the update process and it basically lost connection.
I also have a 12v lighter adapter with a USB port. My phone beeps constantly like I keep plugging and unplugging my phone.
Do yourself a favor, skip the Chinese knockoff for the iPhone/iPod/iPad. It's not worth the hassle.

I wouldn't recommend this charger to anyone. This charger didn't charge my iPhone 3GS very well... It would charge for awhile then it wouldn't charge anymore. I upgraded to 0S 4.0 on my iPhone 3GS and now the phone tells me it cannot charge while this charger is plugged in to it. The charger doesn't plug into the phone right either it's way to tight of fit locking into the phone. This charger could damage your iPhone so do yourself the favor and buy a real apple charger that the phone came with. The seller shouldn't use a picture of the real apple iPhone charger.. I bought a USB 2.0 cable through Amazon from a retailer named Inspire, thinking I could save myself a few bucks ($3 + s/h) for the same item from Apple ($20 + s/h). It took two weeks, and was a dud, and said as much on their company's rating. Customer service offered to refund me (with s/h) if I took off my negative rating. So I did. But this isn't their company site, so I have no qualm saying "I would not recommend buying this product from Inspire."
I ended up buying the cable from an Apple store. Brought my baby back to life. Was worth every penny.
Save yourself the hassle and buy through Apple.

There's nothing that irritates me more than a company who uses a registered trademark, in this case Apple, and doesn't convey the word "compatible" anywhere in the ad or product description and still gets away with being on Amazon. This is false advertising and in the case of using Apple's name to make an assumption about the quality of product, is fraudulent. This USB cable is a compatible product and is not a genuine Apple connection cable. After several days of use, it does work as it should, but I will not purchase another product from this company, since it appears they are intentionally deceiving Amazon customers.Customer Review: Identical to advertised picture

I ordered this product as a small Christmas gift for my husband to replace his current cable that has seen better days and I have to say I am very pleased with the product I received. While waiting for it to arrive today, I looked around at the reviews and got very nervous about what I'd ordered, but the nervousness was all for not. I just opened the packaging and low and behold, I got exactly what was pictured! Sure it doesn't have the Apple logo on there, but other than that it's identical to the cable that came with his IPhone 3G. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews until after I'd purchased this item.
