At first I was reprehensible about purchasing after seeing so many (erroneous) reviewers claiming that this cable was not a OEM Apple cable, but decided to purchase it anyway because the price was lees than a bag of popcorn.
I first tested the cable with my new iPod Touch 4gen. It passed on every front. Then I tested against sound (music) and could not determine any difference.
THEN: I took 2 ea. Apple (Dock to USB) connectors and this OEM cable (sold here) under a 10 x Power microscope.
The markings are identical to a tee. The construction is identical to a tee. The length is identical to a tee. There are markings on the cable which are invisible to the naked eye.
Those markings matched up just as your fingerprint would to your fingers.
As far as I'm concerned this cable matches exactly as advertised. I bought mine while the price was $1.83 now priced at $2.42
If I was this seller, I'd raise it another $3.00 because it's still a bargain at that. I should have ask how much Apple wanted for this cable while at the store last Sunday, I'm sure I would have received an eye popper price.
In final it took 5 days to receive my cable at normal ship. (That includes the order date).
EDIT: I bought this cable Dec 09, 2010. Started using it Dec. 26, 2010 when my i-Touch arrived.
Today I'm editing this review and deducted 4 Stars because as Jan. 08, 2011 this cable quit working
altogether. I can't see any damage, it has not been mistreated, it just quit working. Looks identical but longevity is less than 10 days. Not worth sending back to Amazon.
