Customer Review: Clunky and not high quality

This is one of those products that looks great from an advertisement and a feature list, but in practice is not worth it. I'll try to be brief and list out the major flaws.
1) Dead or always-on pixels. Mine had two always-on (bright white) pixels. LCD displays go through a quality check at the manufacturer and ones with bad pixels get put into the reject pile. The good ones end up in laptops or netbook computers. The bad ones get sold (at discount) to other manufacturers that don't consider bad pixels to be a reason for rejection. Clearly there is a cost savings for the secondary manufacturer and also, clearly, this is the source of the LCD screen that this manufacturer used for this picture frame.
2) It plays pictures from internal memory just fine, but pictures on memory card or videos are difficult to get to play. Videos will never automatically play even if copied to internal memory. In order to get a video to play one has to select "videos" from the menu that is accessable only by pressing the correct buttons on the back of the picture frame. Once started, the video will repeat until power off (which is good), but will not resume upon power-on. The same clunky procedure is required to start the video playing again. Pictures to be played from memory card reqiure the same procedure.
3) Given the requirement to access buttons on the back of the picture frame, it makes wall mounting this picture frame impractical for any purpose other than playing still images that have been copied to internal memory. This is the only mode that starts up automatically upon power up.
4) The documentation doesn't say what the native resolution of the display is. FYI: it is 1200x900. Knowledge of native resolution allows resizing of source images so that more efficient picture storage on the limited internal memory is possible. Since it doesn't automatically play from inserted memory card, maximizing internal memory by pre-sizing the images is necessary.
5) It does come with a remote. This is good -- especially if you intend to wall mount the picture frame. However, selecting the memory card as a picture source or playing videos cannot be initiated through the remote. Only through buttons on the back can this be done -- required every time the picture frame is turned on as it doesn't remember the previous mode it was in.
6) The "leg" that gets inserted into the back for purposes of propping the picture frame up on a flat surface such as a shelf or desktop mounts in a peculiar way. It takes inserting the leg into a slot and rotating to lock it in place. This works great for portrait orientation, but for landscape orientation, no rotation is performed and thus the "leg" does not lock into place. The result is that the "leg" falls out at the slightest touch and the picture frame falls flat. I was able to get it to be resonably stable by half-way turning it toward portrait orientation mode. It is not very stable like this, but at least it is stable enough so that the picture frame doesn't fall down randomly.
