Customer Review: Beautiful blend of form and function

This is an absolute beauty that truly balances form and function. Everything you need to get to is accessible. Everything you need to cover is protected. (Yes, as was mentioned before, you want to keep the glass screen clear.) And the fit is like a tailor came over, took some measurements and came back to suit it up. Let's face it, the Touch is a thing of beauty. There is no way I would suit up a $350 beauty into anything that didn't make it look like a million bucks.
And with all due respect to the guy who decided to pull the clip off - so he could fit it into a headphone case - ohhhh man - that is THE MAIN REASON I bought it. The only pocket you will ever put the Touch into is a shirt or jacket - and the clip will keep it from falling out - it is an absolute requirement for a $350 device that cannot be stuffed into your jeans.
Once I saw this - and read all the positive reviews - I knew I had found the right suit. A hands down winner!

This is an excellent case for the money. Agree with the earlier review that a hole is needed in the case to allow the ambient light sensor to work properly. However, there is a good reason why it's not there: the sensor location moved between the 2nd generation and 3rd generation iPod touches (I have both, and compared the sensor location carefully before making a hole in the case for each specific iPod). This means the manufacturer would have to make cases for specific models OR provide a case with multiple holes (not aesthetically pleasing).
A hole can be made easily using a sharp punch of the proper diameter (often used for leather work or woodworking). Sensor now works perfectly on both units. Be sure to verify the EXACT location of the sensor on your iTouch and transfer it to the case prior to making the hole.
The case WILL work with sensor blocked, but backlighting will be inadequate with strong ambient light.

It's all been said by others. But, in case you find confidence in numbers, I will add my reassurance that, when it comes to look, assembly, feel of the leather, fit, and design, this is the best case I've come across for any of my gadgets. Does not add too much to the sleek thinness of the iTouch. Little pocket on inside of folding cover is perfect place to keep that soft screen-cleaning cloth that came with the iTouch - and so doing does not increase girth. Access to all ports, switches. When trying to touch something at the window margin (e.g., link on a web page), leather edges can slightly interfere with adult male fingers, requiring that the page be scrolled up/down or right/left. Reasonable protection: accidentally dropped the cased iTouch from chest level to parking lot pavement (aaaargh, heart-stopping moment while turning it on to check condition) but it came through fine. I have to say, the case is a wonderful idea; and would work for me. I am having to send mine back, because of the smell... (like it's been dipped in GASOLINE)... I thought that after I opened it/ aired it out, it would be okay... (or so I had wished.) I wore it for a little while, and the smell just seemed to get worse, and it has made me sick to my stomach; and in smaller rooms, my eyes water. LOVE the case; I just would not be able to wear this in public without making others sick; including myself because the smell is SOOOOOO strong. It is not a "light" smell; it is VERY STRONG. I have seen this in other reviews... If you get one that doesn't smell, then it would be almost perfect. The smell would give it 0 stars, but the concept/case w/out a smell would be a 4 star. It is exactly what I need, but not if it is making me sick. The DLO Hip Case looks and works great. The leather has a soft feel to it and the flip down cover protects your iPod's screen. Like others have mentioned, whatever was used to treat the leather leaves a "plastic" smell on the case. However, after airing out a little, it is fine.
My one negative is that the extra pocket in the cover doesn't hold much. I was hoping to put the wipe cloth that came with the iPod in the pocket, but it is too thick to fit. Even a credit card or driver's license is a tight fit (and you won't get more than one in there).
Positive:
-Great looking, soft feel
-Flip down cover protects the screen
-Access to all ports and functions while in the case
Negative:
-"Plastic" smell when opening product
-Extra pocket doesn't hold much (if anything)
Overall, a great case that looks and functions well for a reasonable price.
