Customer Review: This Product is NOT iPod 2D Compatible (Misrepresentation by DLO)

I called DLO to ask them about this specific product. It appears there was a fair bit of confusion on whether or not it actually was compatible with the 2G iPod. On my first query they said it was and includes all required cut-outs for the 2G iPod. They provided a link on their website that provided a description and image of the case. However this image showed that the volume controls were obscured by the case. So I sent them another email asking them if this photo was accurate? They finally conceded the point, and said that the photo was accurate (thereby making the volume controls inaccessible) without conceding that this was actually not really compatible with the 2G iPod.
It seems they are relying on misrepresentation of this particular product in the hopes that that this seemingly minor detail of the obscured volume controls will be accepted by the unwary consumer, once they have the product in hand.
Two thumbs down, DLO, two thumbs down.
For those that are interested in alternatives (no affiliation) I found two other cases that are compatible: Marware's iPod 2G case (with belt clip and eco-leather to boot!), and Belkin's (also sold on the online Apple store, but without belt clip).

This case has a great plan. Slick leather case, easy-to-access folding cover, good access for the side keys, top keys, and docking port for the iPod Touch... belt loop holder... it's got everything.
Except that it's really poorly made. I've bought 2 of them, and both have had the same issue: about 3 weeks after I bought it, the belt clip ripped away from the case. While superglue held it together (didn't do anything for the look, incidentally), I contacted DLO to ask them about the problem. Here was the response I got:
"Thank you for contacting DLO Technical Support.
I apologize for the problem your having with your HipCase for iPod touch. Your comments have been saved for review. Unfortunately, cases and other soft items do not carry a warranty through DLO, only through the retailer. You may want to contact them to see if you can exchange the case through them.
If you need any further assistance, please respond to this email."
In other words, sorry you bought the product and had a problem with the shoddiness of the construction, but it isn't our problem. I have a big issue with this.
Customer Review: An Excellent Flipcase!

I previously owned the Griffin Elan Convertible Flip-Top Case. I loved that case. But, as I believe, the magnet in that case was too strong for the job needed and it caused a plethora of problems for my iPod Touch.
So, I had to find a new flipcase and I settled on the DLO HipCase.
The Good - I could not be happier. The DLO case holds the iPod Touch very snugly inside the case. The headphone and sync ports are very accessible with the iPod sitting in the case. And I really like the feel of the case. It has a nice cushion to the top of the case. Best of all, the magnet in this case is strong enough to make sure the case closes, but it isn't overpowering to the point of causing any problems for the iPod. I have not had to reset my iPod Touch once in the last three days. This is the first time I have been able to say that in over a year.
The Bad - I suppose the case needs to be worn in more. But the actual part of the case that flips back, doesn't flip back all the way. I have had to hold it back in place a few times, especially when the iPod is in landscape, but I'm sure this will get better with age.

I bought this case to use as a wallet/iPod protector. I keep my bankbook on my iPod Touch, so I like to keep my debit card close by. That way I never forget to enter purchases in my bankbook when I buy something. In the end the card slot wasn't really what I needed -- the magnetic seal on the case just wouldn't stay shut with my ID and my debit card in there. I ended up buying a Sena iPod Touch wallet, which is terrific. So why am I giving this DLO case five stars? Well it's truly a terrific case. I think it would serve most iPod Touch users well. Also, it's a good belt case. Normally I don't like cases that attached to my belt. But this one is so soft, smooth and supple that it never bothered me at all -- even when a little of my love handles (we all have them!) "mushroomed" over my pants. Also it keeps the iPod screen protected without any kind of cheesy stick-on screen protector. So if you don't care about having your ID and debit card in your iPod case, this is a really nice choice. The only other downside is it makes the iPod a little bulky if you want to slip it into your pocket. Good price, good case. Hope it works for you!Customer Review: Great DLO Genuine Leather Case

This is a wonderful case.
First there is no disgusting smell when first opening the package, only the great smell of genuine leather. This may have been an issue addressed because of previous complaints.
The case seems sturdy and holds the iPod touch 16 Gig 2nd Generation very well. It does not slide out of the case and all of the screen (including the home button) is easily accessed. The only part of the 2nd generation iPod that is covered is the volume rocker, but this is easily pressed through the leather on the side.
On the inside of the case there is a smooth felt fabric that protects the iPod from scratches when sitting in the case.
There are two weak magnets at the base of the case. They are strong enough to hold the flap shut but will not interfere with the device.
I recommend this case for everyone who owns an iPod touch. It is a very nice leather case with a good belt strap. It offers great protection for the screen with the leather flap.
