I did not get this from Amazon. My order was lost in the mail and Amazon gave me a complte refund. I went to a local retailer and purchased teh Skip Dr. there.
The product works. It remoces minor scratches from the surface of the disc, but it leaves radial lines on the surface of the disc.This is not for a collector of CDs/ DVDs, want their discs to be in mint condition. Most scratched disc I have repaired with the unit worked fine after I ran it through the machine. Discs that have deep scratches or the label side is scratched will not be repaired by this system.
It does not polish or clean the disc. Their is a cloth to use to wipe it and clean it after it is done.
I would recomend this to anyone who needs to fix minor scratches and does not mind imperfections on their cds/dvds.

Well we got our unit today...I tried it out on 3 disc that we have had skipping and/or hanging issues with. All of which are Disney DVD's and for those of you who buy Disney DVDs you understand the frustration with the LONG time in between releases...buying new ones at normal prices was not an option. Of the 3, 2 were completely repaired and no longer skip or hang. The 3rd one has some very large wide scratches in a crescent moon shape. This disc got better after 2 Skip DR passes but not fixed. The DVD disc no longer just hangs and crashes now at least it skips around through the troubled section, Pedro the little mail plane. I hope a few more passes will fix the issue completely. Overall I am happy with my purchase and for minor stuff I think this is the way to go and I would recommend it to families with little kids that just love to handle DVDs.Customer Review: Works okay

Need to run a disc through a good number of times to get scratches out. I enjoy audio books and check them out from our local library. I'm finding many of these discs are in rough shape, so I bought this unit to help with the consistent skipping problems I find. I still get skips after running a disc through 2 times, so I need to get used to running the discs through more then that. At that point, it's kind of a time thing. How many times do I really need to run a disk through? It seems Digital Innovations should have a scratch depth to allow for a longer repair process. Let the device churn for 2-5 times as long as the normal process. Heck, integrate the spray solution into it so it automatically squirts onto the disk so I don't have to do that. Be fair though guys, don't bathe the disc in solution and run us dry on the cost of refills.Customer Review: Don't waste your money...

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. He didn't even use it until this summer when he got out all his cd's and cleaned them. He complained about the excessive battery use so I decided to get him the power adapter.
This morning he walks in and asks what I'm doing. "I'm ordering you the adapter." "Don't bother," he says, "It didn't clean my cd's at all. It's a piece of crap." Right. Thank goodness he said something before I ordered the adapter (especially since it took me 3 days to get through to someone for information about it!).
Nah, if it had even done a semi-decent job he'd have just repeated until he got the results he wanted. For him to not even want the adapter tells me volumes -- this thing isn't worth ordering, having, wasting your time or money on. Give it a pass.

Just received this item - shipping speed was fine, arrived on time. Was a bit put off to find that it does not ship with a power adaptor, nor the 6 AA batteries that it takes to run it (there was no mention of a battery powered option). I didn't see this in the description or on anyone's reviews, so wanted to share this with you. Spending another $7.95 on an adaptor puts this unit at over $40 with S/H! Haven't used it yet (need to buy batteries, not waiting for adaptor) but I hope it runs well!
After testing this product my skepticism has been replaced by conviction! It successfully cleaned a large stain on a DVD, and after a second cleaning enabled the disk to play successfully.
Summary: does its job well; would be nice if it came with the adaptor. increase rating to 4.25 stars. :-)
