The repeater works really well and eliminates the need to run wires from a south-facing window, but the range is not as far as advertised. At 20', it loses one bar of signal strength, compated to if the antenna was hooked directly to the XM radio. With this item we can listen to our XM radio anywhere in the house. We are thoroughly enjoying our radio much more than before. We have units in several rooms and just need to move the radio without worrying about making sure we are receiving the signal on the south side of our house.

I'm using my XM Radio in my basement with a home theater system, and there is no window with southern exposure. I simply placed this unit upstairs near a window which has southern exposure, and the signal is very strong which allows me to use my XM Radio in my basement. My house has an aluminum roof which effectively blocks the XM satellite signal. However, an antenna sitting in a south-facing window combined with this repeater lets me put the radio anywhere in the house without running long antenna wires. The price was unbelievable and the product works great - in our case through a ceiling and a couple of walls. We have the transmitter in a room over our garage and I get full signal strength in any room in the house (large ranch except for that room). Plug and play. It doesn't get much easier than this.
