Customer Review: Interferes with z-wave home automation
Summary: 2 Stars

I've just disconnected my Delphi XM Signal Repeater. It worked, and I enjoyed using it, but I'll have to find another way to get the XM signal from my outside antenna to my home office.

While putting up Christmas lights this year I discovered that the computer we traditionally use to control them, via a Z-wave network, could not do the job. In fact, the Z-wave network in our house (which always gets much bigger this time of year) wasn't behaving well at all. With the help of an AirView spectrum analyzer, I learned that there was an incredible amount of noise in my house all the way from 905 to 922MHz.

It took quite a lot of wandering around with the AirView to narrow it down (didn't help that I'd hidden the Delphi on top of a cabinet and forgotten it was there). Sure enough, when I unplugged the Delphi all that noise went away. As soon as it did, my Z-wave network started behaving itself again.

Z-wave only uses one frequency (908.42MHz), but the Delphi floods much of the 900MHz range. If you've got anything in your house that uses the 900MHz band, like any Z-wave home automation or perhaps a 900MHz wireless phone, I'd recommend against buying the Delphi XM Signal Repeater. This is disappointing for me but I am really disappointed at Delphi. Surely there was a way to design this device so that it doesn't flood such a broad amount of spectrum.

Customer Review: Nearly flawless!
Summary: 4 Stars

The Delphi XM repeater system is great. I use it in my office in Staten Island, NY and have had a very good experience with it. My office only has one set of south facing windows and they're nowhere near my desk, so therefore the antenna extension was not an option. So I looked into this Delphi system and it works great! It's also nice because we only need one antenna in the window and a co-worker and I can share the same signal. The distance claims are pretty accurate. The window I'm using is about 50 feet away and there is a room with lots of computers in it along the way and I generally get a clear signal. I will say that when people walk by or stand between me and the repeater, it does drop out sometimes. I also noticed some drop outs when a co-worker left his umbrella open to dry near the repeater. But 99% of the time, it works as described and allows me to get all the goodness of XM where I normally wouldn't be able to. This product is ideal for anyone in an office situation like mine where windows are scarce, or even at home where you have only one south facing window, but want to be able to use your XM receiver anywhere. Also keep in mind that it will work with multiple receivers with the purchase of the additional antennas, which can be found at a very affordable price right here on Amazon. It's a great product and I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Essential Equipment for MyFi Handheld
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this directly from the manufacturer as soon as it came out (and paid more than the Amazon price), but it is definitely worth the money. I can only get XM reception in one room of my home with the XM antenna precariously positioned on top of a curtain rod. It was very frustrating to have to deal with that (I almost sent it back and cancelled service), but this repeater takes care of the problem! I can now use the MyFi as it was intended to be used--as a portable device--in every room of my home. The only drawback is that the device is a little unwieldy at times because you have to keep the MyFi in its dock when you bring it to another room and you have the repeater antenna attached to that dock. It can be a little awkward lugging all that hardware around. If you are going to simply place it on a table in another room to listen, that is fine, but if you want to hold it in your hands, i.e., on your deck or patio, it can be awkward to have all that equipment attached to it. Another minor drawback is that the device can get very hot (the repeater itself, not the antenna) and also it doesn't appear to have an on/off switch, so it's "on" all the time. I don't know how many watts it draws, but that might be a problem for some people. Other than that, it is absolutely wonderful if you have a problem getting an XM signal in your home.

Customer Review: Finally able to use XM radio at the office
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a Pioneer Inno but was never able to use it in my cubicle at work because it wouldn't pick up a signal. I sit in the middle of the office at least 35 feet from the nearest window ledge. Cubicles are assigned so moving to a window cubicle was not an option. This repeater antenna and transmitter solved that problem. I have the transmitter and antenna sitting in a vacant cubicle that has a window ledge and the repeater antenna and Inno docking station is in my cubicle. The signal is strong and sounds great!

I ordered an extra kit for my home where I placed the transmitter and antenna in the unfinished attic (it sits in a dormer window and is plugged into an outlet in the attic)and the repeater antenna is DOWNSTAIRS in a closet underneath the stairs where I have a receiver for whole house music. I have a second docking station for the Inno connected there and when I'm at home, I can play the Inno and hear it through the speakers all over the house. The signal from my attic apparently goes through floors, walls and shut doors. The next morning, i just remove the Inno from under the stair closet and take it to the office and drop it into the docking station on my desk. This is just marvelous!

Customer Review: XM Radio Fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a fan of XM satellite radio. A portable radio in the house can be very restrictive. The antenna must see the southeastern sky to get reception. I have a Express R unit and I bought a portable XM radio. This gives me the portability I was looking for to listen both inside or outside. Outside isn't a problem but inside the radio must be placed such that the antenna can see the southeastern sky. Now you are very restricted as to where you can place the radio for reception. In my case only one window in the whole house. The use of this Signal Repeater and the additional purchase of a home antenna gives me the versatility I wanted. That being to listen to the radio anywhere in the house I wanted. In my case, mounting the repeater in the garage with the home antenna looking out of one of the garage door windows works just fine. One other point. We just had all our windows replaced with ones that had a ultra violet light reducing tint. The signal can't penetrate our windows. That's why I ended up in the garage. It takes some time and trouble to find the right place but once you find it it's well worth the investment.
