I'm usually pretty optimistic about items I buy and I still buy items with negative comments, this time I paid for my ignorance. This receiver has so many negatives. The radio is huge, mounting it in my car was insane. It covers a ton of space and is heavy. I bought the wearable kit but it's a workout just trying to carry this unit, give up and buy an I-Pod. The software on the unit was old and I had to spend hours online trying to upgrade it. Even when I did upgrade, it still locks up and the unit absolutely won't work if the unit is cold (I don't mean freezing, just chilly). The FM transmitter is useless, it doesn't work at all. If you buy it, plan on using the MP3 plug on your vehicle. I'm switching it out with my 5 year old receiver and throwing this piece of junk in the garbage. I wanted to get this for a long time. The features make this unit very attactive for what I want. I really wanted to be able to record programs for later listening/download.
This wasn't meant to be. In spite of some of the bad reviews, I crossed my fingers and ordered when I saw it on sale from J&R Music World for only $29!
I should have just thrown $29 out the window as I drove down the hiway. The unit locked up and became unusable after only two days of use. I only listend to the unit for 2 hours. It's dead and cannot be turned on at all. All this even after reading what others have done to remedy their problems, and a firmware update .
Don't buy this.
I will say that J&R Music world has fantastic service.
Customer Review: Discovered "Fix" For Lock-up Issue

For those of you wondering if you should purchase this XM Radio system and look to the reviews to decide, I will definitely recommend the SKYFI 3 to you. MP3 and live XM recording are both very easy to use. Most of the bad reviews mention that the radio locks up while in use. I work ten hour shifts driving circles around a small town, so I have put probably 3 to 4 hundred hours of use into my SKIFI 3 that I purchased 2 months ago. I did have the radio lock up on me twice in the first week of using the radio. I found out that it only locks up when you leave the radio on and have activated the auto shut-off timer. I disabled the auto shut-off the first week and the SKIFI 3 has not locked up since. I just last week I ordered 2 more for other members of my family.Customer Review: WHY ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ????

Why all the bad reviews, I bought this product in spite of all the bad reviews I read, I figured that for 39.95, what the heck. As soon as I received it I plugged it to my PC and put in the new upgrade that is supposed to take care of the problems, I put a 2 gig card in it for the mp3's. Now I am assuming that all the complaints were coming from people who dont know what their doing, because I mounted mine on motorcycle handlebars, which has 10 times the vibration of a car. I took a 600 mile trip with no problems at all, 00, natta, none. I love the way it works, and I used all the same wires, antenna, power, audio out, etc., the same wires I was using on my roady xt. I am totally satisfied with the skyfi 3 and would give it more than 5 stars if I could.Customer Review: Junk!

I had this unit for less then 1 year. The more I use it the worse it gets. It continually locks up, loads for exteneded periods of time (over 20 minutes), wont start until you mess with it for awhile. I have a 40 minute car ride to work, on average it starts working the last 10 minutes of my commute. I went to the website to upgrade my firmware [...] It connects and recognizes my unit and what version of firmware. However when I press start to upgrade I get an error message and it will not let me upgrade.
