Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CLOSEOUT: DELL UltraSharp 2007WFP 20.1-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand - New Open BoxCustomer Review: Great Value for a Used Monitor! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this monitor used on Craigslist for 100 bucks. It was a great buy, and I would certainly consider spending the $130-150 the used and refurbished models are going for on Amazon and eBay. I got the S-IPS version. As other reviewers point out, this is a higher quality type of LCD display than most of the cheaper name brand monitors on sale from Dell, Acer, HP, etc. Supposedly it is comparable to Apple Cinema Displays of the same vintage (which still cost hundreds of dollars more). But having never used an Apple Cinema Display, I can't make an honest comparison. I am using the Dell 2007WFP as a second display for my 2006 Macbook Pro, hooked up with a DVI cable. The image quality is great, the viewing angle is wide, and the colors seem accurate. I like that it has a matte (non-glossy) display. I also prefer its 16:10 aspect ratio (newer monitors and HDTVs are 16:9) because it allows for more usable vertical space for word processing and web browsing.
Customer Review: pretty, but not a monitor for photo editing Summary: 3 Stars
After reading that these monitors were made by the same manufacturer that makes the Apple Cinema displays, I purchased this monitor to replace my dying CRT. While watching DVDs nice and widescreen was a pleasure, I quickly noticed some problems that led me to return the monitor and go back to the drawing board.
The four corners of the monitor had bright spots like a light leak at each corner, and the contrast adjustments were insufficient to calibrate the monitor for photo editing, with shadows that were too dark. Reducing contrast so reduced the overall brightness that everything took on a grey muddy feel. After fiddling with it for a week, I returned the monitor and am back on the hunt.
Loved the look, the swivel screen, controls were easy to figure out, screen was nice and sharp and color was tasty, but this is not a budget alternative to a higher end display for anyone interested it using it for photo editing.
Customer Review: Excellent Monitor! Summary: 5 Stars
Iused to have a 19 Inch Nec LCD monitor ( read my other reviews) i sold it in order to egt this one as the replacement and to get rid of the useless buttons on the Nec one. What i Found is that this is an Excelent LCD, it features amazing image quality, and the multimple imput options are also great, the picture in picture function is very handy for playing video games on it while you do something else on the computer.
In the ohter size, the uzb plugas that come with the monitor dont always work right, every now and then they scre up my mice wich is connected to the monitor and it starts clicking like crazy, but i dunno if it is beacues of the monitor or because of the so many usb ports im using at the same time.
Exellent monitor at a great price!
Customer Review: Review for 2007FP Summary: 5 Stars
I don't see the full-screen 2007FP on amazon... so I'm going to write the review here, on the widescreen product page.
The 2007FP is an excellent monitor, I bought 2 directly from Dell and have them side-by-side on my desk. They are sleek, bright, crystal clear... I would recommend to just about anyone. If you're looking for something to play video games on, the ms response isn't the highest out there, but I do play xbox on one of them occasionally and I don't notice any problems with the display (some claim otherwise)
UPDATE
Here it is, 1.5 years later. This monitor seemed to be ahead of its time. The clarity, brightness and color are all great, even compared to this widescreen samsung monitor I got not too long ago.
Customer Review: Great display but use DVI with Powerbooks etc Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a display for my screen writing so I could see three pages on one screen, plus, plugged into my Powerbook, I can have the "index card" view on that screen. It's an amazing set up.
I wasn't happy with the way the color or fonts were until i brought the mini DVI to DVI connector.... WOW!! SOOO much better. Throw out that analog connector you get with the PB!!
This LCD display uses the same panel as the Apple Cinema display but uses a different lamp, so you are basically getting the same screen for half the price.... the only draw back is the bezel doesn't match the color my AI Book(!) but who cares!!!
