Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Vista Explorer 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod with Tripod Bag

Customer Review: Best tripod for the money hands down
Summary: 5 Stars

As a point and shooter I used to handhold every camera shot I took. I thought they looked pretty sharp but...starting getting a bit more serious about my hobby and decided to get a tripod. The difference is amazing.

This tripod is hands down the best one I've seen in this price range. It has dual action telescoping legs, a crank to move the camera up and down and best of all a quick release to grab the camera when you don't need the tripod during shooting. Bubble levels, a grip to carry it with and 3 way moving head complete the package.

The construction quality is decent...not the best ever but it's passable (the plastic parts are going to wear out much faster then any of the metal, the knobs could be a bit higher quality) especially at this price point.

It's lightweight (though it does have a hook to add additional weight if needed) and folds down to a fairly portable size and includes a nice case with shoulder strap to carry it from site to site.

My only complaint is that vertical shooting is questionable since the plastic head motion isn't as smooth as I'd like.

Other then that I highly recommend this product as either a first tripod or a backup that you can leave out in the car as a spare if you don't want to damage your expensive one. 5 stars

Customer Review: Great Value - Excellent spare, starter or secondary tripod for great price
Summary: 5 Stars

This low cost tripod came up as a promotional offer when purchasing a camera so I really wasn't expecting much since the price was so low. I figured the tripod bag would cost nearly that much so decided to give it a try. While by no means is this a professional model, it is an excellent value for an affordable starter tripod or spare.

Features:
Relatively lightweight - certainly not in the lightest class but sturdy and still manages to remain light enough to not tire for standard use.

Ability to rotate in all directions.

Quick connect/disconnect feature.

Able to hold decent sized DSLR not just super light weight point and shoot models.

Decent little canvas bag.

Quick hang hook.

Good spread - fairly steady.

Ability to set-up on non level surface.

All in all, this is a terrific starter tripod or spare you can toss around, leave in the car etc for a very affordable price. Not sure about durability since I've only had a short period of time but like I mentioned before, at the current sales price a tripod bag will cost you nearly the same amount. This should have a little life in it and can double for other uses later. Better than expected at this price!

Customer Review: My FIRST Tripod!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not a professional photographer, so please take this into account when reading this! Indeed, this is my very first tripod, and so far, I am very happy with it. First, it was VERY easy to figure out-- a PLUS for first-timers. Second, it is very light weight and perfect for on-the-go use. It comes with a storage/carry bag-- when you are done or need to move locations, it is simple to break-down, store and go. The price was really awesome, so that is certainly another great thing.

I would have to say that if you plan to use this in WINDY conditions, the lightweight aspect might be a negative-- it is very light, and I have no doubt that it would easily topple in high wind. The only other issue I can find so far is that the handle to control the tilt of the camera has a tendency to be "in the way" a great deal. Since I am not very familiar with tripods, it is likely that the handle is properly placed and I am just not accustomed to it. As I am a short individual using a tiny camera (nikon D3100), a taller person with a larger camera may be proportioned so as not to come into annoying contact with the handle?

All in all, I am very happy with this tripod! The price, ease of use/storage/portability/assembly make it a winner in my book!

Customer Review: Decent for value
Summary: 3 Stars

1)the bag- opens here- etc,,
2)the tripod is folded in this way.
3)it has a very good grip.
4)the pan and tilt function is good.
5)the legs are fine, but feel a little flimsy.- durable, but possibly weakly constructed. it will hold heavy cameras though.
6)the swivel head feet are very well made.
7)clips are good.
8)the up and down crank, while functional and probably durable (feels durable) is very flimsy and a bit jerky.
9)the centering bubble is accurate and helpful, also there is another one on the camera mount.
9)the outward extension for the legs is very good and has a lock mechanism.
10) overall- very good with a few minor concerns.

Just know- its gonna break if you are hard with it, banging and stuff will break peices, its mostly of cheap plastic construction, but for amateur photographers, it'll do everything you ask of it. its steady, and the clip is usefull and has an easy application and realease latch.

It gets three stars because of the flimsy construction, but for what you pay- i'd estimate it lasts 6-12 months at about 200 minutes a day of use.

Customer Review: VERY Light but sturdy
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an old tripod (from college.....sometime when the dinosaurs roamed the earth....the 70's) that still works if you are very careful....so why would I want to actually spend this thing called money on something new when mine is not really broken......this new light technology and stuff is neat....it comes with it's own bag....nice.....probably three TIMES lighter than my old one.....i used it the first week I got it....to shoot still shots.....NO flash allowed....for my daughter's drill team...indoors...at a distance....i actually extended one tripod leg onto the lower bleacher level and the pictures were priceless. I would NOT have been able to do it hand-held. Since she is my youngest, and a senior....I will NOT get to do this again. I treasure the pictures I got without a flash....because of this tripod. Needless to say, my old tripod would not have even come close to closing the deal. For me that one day of shots was worth the price of the tripod....but i can still use it for many, many years. For me it was worth every penny....i did get it on sale, which is even sweeter.
