I bought two different laptop cooling pads. This one and another. This one has three fans, but does not put out any air. The back of the cooler is closed, so no air is drawn from anywhere but directly under the laptop. This air is hot, and it does nothing to help cool my laptop. I have an Dell Inspiron 17 in. It get hot, but with my other cooler it stays nice and cool.
In closing, this is a product that I would not buy again. For the money of the cooler and for the laptop you would be much better off buying a Zalman Ultra-Quiet Notebook Cooler, Model ZM-NC1000. This one works great.

I've had this for about 1.5 months now and i can't complain. before using it, my laptop would sometimes turn off from overheating when playing intensive games, but now i never have to look twice at the temp monitor. two of the fans are placed right under heat sinks, so the temp drop is immediately noticeable. I only wish it were larger to better accomodate my 15.4 widescreen laptop, as there is about 1 inch overhang on the sides and .5 inch overhang on the front and back. the fans are quieter than those of my comp, so it isnt annoying to use at all. well worth buying over more expensive competitors.Customer Review: Does what its supposed to

It does what it's meant to do. and yes it looks like it was made from cheap plastic but for me its holding up, my laptop used to get hot and now it stays at a cool temperature all the time, this pad doesn't lower the computers temperature but just works well enough for the computer not to get hot which is good. for the price it was well worth it. I've had it for more than a month and it doesn't look like its going anywhere soon. But if you treat it like garbage and drop it believe me it will break. treat it well and it will work for you for a long while. 4 starsCustomer Review: About to order a second one

My girlfriend's laptop (macbook pro) was actually starting to crack the wood on the table that was underneath where she usually put it! After getting this, at least the problem has been greatly mitigated. The entire keyboard and wrist rest area is now cool to the touch, always. Worth the price.
I am about to order a second one for my work laptop (also a macbook pro, call me lucky!) which often runs very loud internal fans.
If you keep your computer busy, this is kind of a necessity (although it SHOULD NOT be!)

I plugged the USB in and it was so quiet that I had to look to see if the fans were turning... yep, all three. The pad is thin and the three front LED green lights let me know that every thing is 10-4. My ACER 3680 runs about 50% cooler. I paid under $17 shipping included. Half of what other cooler fans go for. I got through Amazon from PC Universe - though PC Universe's shipping speed could be better, they are not the fastest horse in the race, I still got the box on last day that was promised. For the price, highly recommended.
