Customer Review: Didn't work for me!

I got this because my neighbor has about 4 or 5 chained dogs that bark all day and night. I thought this device was working, but after white it didn't work at all. I wouldn't dare use this to scare off an aggressive animal.
Update: May 5, 2010---> A Japanese Chin is allowed to walk himself around the neighborhood. Yesterday, he was attempting to poop in my fresh cut grass. I aimed this thing at him and he stopped. He tried to poop again and I aimed the thing at him and, out of frustration, he left. Today, he was hanging around my yard and I aimed the thing at him. He looked up the first time. He looked up again the second time and the third time he cutely raised his leg, looked and walked off.
This thing would NOT cause a violent dog to leave you alone. The Chin seemed intrigued not frightened by this thing.
Update: dog trainers state that the raising the paw, though cute, indicates the dog is getting angry. I would highly recommend that you not use the device trying to keep dogs from harming you.

I got the Dog Dazer II to try to train a neighbor's barking dog. I have not used it to try to repel an attacking dog, but based on the strong reaction of the dog I trained I think it would be a very effective repellent as well as a trainer. My neighbor's dog is periodically left for most of the day in a small chain-link enclosure that adjoins my back yard. I feel sorry for her, but the non-stop barking and whining was driving me nuts, so I did some online research and ordered the Dazer. So far I've only blasted her twice, and she has mostly quit barking, which is a better success rate than I had dared to hope for. My only criticism of the Dazer is that its short range, around 20 feet, makes it impossible for me to blast the dog without her seeing me, which risks her learning to fear me rather than her own barking. But I tried to use the Dazer only as backup to voice commands, and she seems to have figured it out. If I have to do it again, I will try to rig up some kind of remote activator so that I can use it without the dog seeing me.Customer Review: I was as skeptical as you. But this thing works!

There is a neighbor dog who violently barks at me every day when i walk outside.
i bought this on a lark due to the positive reviews.
it arrived a week later. and i couldnt wait to try it, half expecting complete failure.
then the dog mysteriously disappeared for a week. I think he had heard that I got this bad boy in the mail.
Well, today, when I opened my door to go to work, the old familiar barking began. I giggled to myself as i was walking to my car.
The dog barking ferociously.. from about 15 ft away.. I reach into my holster and grab my dazzer and slowly point it at the dog..
*click* goes the button
(silence) the look on the dogs face is like "WTF just happened"
he is quiet for a moment. then begins barking again
*click* the button is pushed again
again, the sweet joy of silence..
there was no more barking..
but there was a smile on my face as i walked away.

After a year of putting up with my next door neighbor's barking dogs, I decided to buy this product to see if it would help shut them up. The first time I heard the dogs barking, I aimed the product over the fence directly at the Dachshund that does the most yapping, and he immediately stopped barking, pinned his ears back, and ran for the house! The other dog also stopped barking and just sat there growling, like he couldn't figure out what it was that was bothering his ears.
This product also works great for keeping cats out of areas that you don't want them in, like on the cabinets. I have three cats. One is almost deaf and does not respond to it, but the other two immediately abort the behavior I want to correct.
The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star rating was the fact that distance can be an issue. I find the dogs react much better at closer range than they do when on the other side of the yard, but all in all, this is a worthwhile product that has made my life much quieter!

If you have agressive barking dogs, this is the device that will quiet them. I've lived with yappy weiner dogs for the last 3 months, could never enjoy my backyard with out several dogs coming to our backyard fence and barking at the top of their lungs. Saw the Dazer II and ordered immediately. Not knowing how it would work and receiving the item, went out and with device in my pocket, went out to greet the
group of yappy dogs. Once I hit the button, It was like something invisible got their attention. They immediately dispersed and ran back to their home. 10 minutes later, one of them came up to the fence, this time from a farther distance, and started to bark but not as frequently. Pressed the button a second time, and he dispersed and never returned.
What I found out is that the dogs now bark at the other neighbors and steer clear from my yard. Dogs that were in the yappy group that did not
bark were not affected. Don't waste any time if you want to get some
peace and quiet.
