Customer Review: No support for Wake-on-LAN

Dual band WiFi, "X-Treme N," "gaming-ready," USB "SharePort" and other sorts of "features" all sound good but it is lacking some basics. The DIR-825 is nice looking, except for the blindingly bright blue LED front panel lights. The fact that it tries to do all the thinking for you actually makes setup and configuration more complicated because you need to learn their supposedly "idiot-proof" terms for common things. NAT = "special advanced super tools" etc. After hours of testing I don't think this router passes the "magic packet" to wake a server on LAN. I think this flaw is linked to the fact that to power save the device shuts down ports that are unused, thus the server goes to sleep and falls forever off the grid (at least to incoming requests) Wow! How much power could turning off one port possibly save anyway?
Oh well. I returned it and picked up a TRENDnet TWG-BRF114 since I was only using it for the wired router function for the moment anyway.
