Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of D-Link DBT-120 Wireless Bluetooth USB AdapterCustomer Review: Getting DBT-120 to work with XP SP2 Summary: 4 Stars
To confirm, this does work with XP SP2. I have it plugged into a IBM T41 and can do an Activesync over BT with my MPX220.
Keys are:
- install the drivers that come with it
- the SP2 bluetooth drivers overide some of the Dlink functions but that is ok
- The follow the instructions below:
from: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=116080
"1. delete the partnership made on computer and under bluetooth in settings menu on phone
2. set up bluetooth PC software to have a specific com port open for incoming.
3. open pc activesync and set same com port to allow connection.
4. THEN turn phone bluetooth on discoverable, and have PC search for device to establish partnership with and follow through the instructions
Mine only worked with activesync if I made a partnership AFTER I specified which COM port to use with PC bluetooth AND PC activesync."

Customer Review: Put this item on your "Do Not Buy" List Summary: 1 Stars
Yesterday I received my D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth adapter and spent 2 hours trying to get it installed and talking to my Bluetooth Nokia cell phone. The CD installation disc did not work as I have Windows Vista. Next I downloaded new Windows Vista compatible software from Toshiba. After two attempts, it finally installed and it found my Nokia cell phone. But no matter what I did, it refused to connect my PC to my cell phone. Just a "connection failed" message and no further help. If you have Windows Vista, put this item on your "Do Not Buy" List. Oh yes, I contacted D-Link before purchasing it, and they said it is Windows Vista compatible.
I finally installed Nokia software and got the system to work. But for what one must go through to get Bluetooth to work, it's not worth the effort!
I strongly recommend that one should purchase a hardwire connector for use in connecting a PC to a cell phone.
Customer Review: Hard to install, works great now Summary: 4 Stars
I tried to install the D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth USB Adapter myself, and couldn't get it to work. I called D-Link tech support several times, and nobody I talked to could get it to work either. Finally, I took it to a local computer tech, who had my computer for about 3 days. As far as I can tell, D-Link had put out a bad driver and also a bad Bluetooth stack (whatever that is).
Once we got everything we needed, it has been working pretty much flawlessly since I bought it 3 months ago. I have noticed that whenever I install new software, or do a major update to software, unrelated to the Bluetooth adapter, my Nokia software that uses the Bluetooth loses the connection. But it's a simple matter to click into the Nokia software, re-establish the connection, and then it works fine again.
Overall, I would say I am pleased with the product. I just wish it had been easier to install.
Customer Review: Five minute set-up on XP SP1 - Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
After a miserable time with a Linksys BT100 Bluetooth (which I never did get to work properly), I tried the D-Link 120 (rev4). I started by downloading the rev4 driver from D-Link. After unzipping the folder I hit the install icon in the folder and just folowed the screen prompts. No Codes, no problems or error messages. It has been totally flawless so far. I have low, but useable signal all over my small two story house. I haven't tried it on our Mac iBook yet, but after reading other reviews I tend to think it will be fine. I was starting to think Bluetooth was a waste of time after trying the Linksys and reading some of these reviews, but I'm glad I tried the DBT-120. While trying to get the Linksys going, I spent alot of time learning about bluetooth setups. I don't know what is causing problems for other users, but I'm just not having any under XP SP1. Now if it just lasts through the three year warranty.
Customer Review: This is the one for your Mac Summary: 5 Stars
If you have an older Mac that didn't come with Bluetooth. This is the one to get. Apples firmware update will update it, and it will then support headsets (for Skype, etc). Other adapters work with Mac--I bought an IOGear, but the flat don't support headsets, so if that's an issue, be advised. Here's also a tip on updating the firmware...
I have a Rev B4 DBT-120 that I am using on my iBook G3 with 10.4.6 to connect a Motorola HS820 headset for Skype. [...]
Like other people, I hav had several failed attempts at the update. I read that you need to have all other USB devices removed (and the DBT-120) plugged directly into the port on the iBook. I unplugged the hub with mouse and scanner on it and it worked first time after that. I did not reapply the 10.4.6 combo updater, but this also is said to work. This could be anecdotal, but I thought I would mention it.
