Customer Review: Worst BT adapter I ever saw.

I used it for more than 1 year, everyday, with my Mac (from 10.1 to 10.3) and my Palm Tungsten T and Nokia 3650. After installing software on my Nokia or any other data transfer, from Palm or cell phone, it would just die and BT became unavalable until I plugged it off and restarted my Mac, but I was ok with that since I did't use BT all that much.
Then I sold my Nokia, didn't use a lot of BT with my Palm anyway and so I stopped using it for 3 months, until I bought a Motorola RAZR V3. Now it dies out just after recognizing my V3, I just can't Sync with it even though it is in iSync panel - everytime I start, the adapter turns off by itself.
And I bought D-Link, expensive brand, because I thought they were 'especially made for Macs'.
D-Link support just replied saying that I have a defective unit and told me to try to get it fixed locally because there was nothing they could do. VERY helpful.
I am never buying another D-Link product again. My friends have 'generic' Taiwanese 10-buck BT adapters that never stopped working, on Macs or PCs.
Customer Review: Great hardware, poor testing and support

I bought this adapter specifically to use a bluetooth headset on my G5 Mac. I selected the product based on earlier reviews and Apple support articles recommending it. I'd give the hardware 5 stars - works great - but I'm docking D-Link 2 stars for poor testing and support.
The problem is D-Link is now shipping rev C of the product, and it fails Apple's firmware version test in the OSX 10.4 bluetooth headset setup. Current versions of the DBT-120 do not work with headsets in OSX 10.4. They do work in OSX 10.5.
I took this through the support chain at both D-Link and Apple. No one could give me a definitive answer. The Apple folks could only say that bluetooth support was "much improved" in 10.5. The D-Link phone support people were clueless - far as I could tell they didn't even have a troubleshooting script for Apple. An email exchange with a backup support engineer indicated that they had never tested the rev C adapters with headsets on OSX.
I finally upgraded to OSX 10.5 for other reasons, and the combination does work.

Customer Review: Excellent Service (AMAZON) - Excellent Product (DLINK)

I was looking for a Bluetooth Adapter (Dongle) to Bluetooth enable my PC. The main reason I wanted the Adapter was for using it with Skype. At the same time I wanted to ensure that it will seemlessly integrate with other Bluetooth devices. I am happy that I ordered this product and that too from Amazon.
Initially my package got lost on delivery (Some UPS Glitch). Amazon was prompt enought to send across a replacement package on priority shipping. But then I received my original package and returned back the replacement packet.
The Product gave me a bit of problem initially while installing on Windows machine (No problem with Mac as you don't have to install any driver on Mac). The driver for Windows needs a little bit of tweak before it can start functioning. You may have to go to your Device Manager and manually update the driver. Apart from that no probs at all!! I am happy with this product.
Still waiting to receive the Mail In Rebate. But then also a Product worth every penny. Good Value for Money buy.
Customer Review: It "just worked" with Windows XP built in drivers

Did you know that the Blackberry bluetooth modem functionality requires an adaptor that works with Windows XP's built in bluetooth drivers? Yes, the built-in drivers don't support bluetooth stereo. But most add-on ones do. So you get to pick.
At any rate, this dongle "just worked" with the built in drivers. It is actually rather difficult to figure out what dongle _selling today_ will do that. All the lists of "what works with the built in XP drivers" seem to be dated from when Microsoft released XP or when they released their Bluetooth driver update for XP. Unfortunately it is very difficult to translate that into the make/models of devices that are sold currently.
This one works. Buy it if you need this. It also comes with non-Microsoft drivers that presumably do support Bluetooth stereo if you need that (and are willing to sacrifice your Blackberry DUN support). Get it while it's here because tomorrow there will be some different model on the market that may or may not work and this one will be gone.

After 'wrestling' with the documentation and alot of websites on the Internet, I finally got the DBT-120 to work with my Nokia 6600.My first objection is that the drivers on the CD do not work. Essentially, this means that you have to download NEW drivers from the dlink website. The important lesson is to know what 'hardware revision' of the adapter are you using. B1 or B2 or B3 etc. It's clearly printed on the dongle itself. Second, note down which version of the CD came with you Adapter ... this will help you decide which drivers to download from the Dlink website.
Once downloaded, you might run into trouble when you run Nokia's PC Suite... which is the software that allows you to backup your contacts, do synchronization with Outlook etc etc.
Visit dlink Austalia website at www.dlink.com.au and they have some nice pdf files telling you how to make the Nokia software work with the DBT-120 adapter.
It's working now. Ask me and it wasnt a 'smoooth install'.
Also, the drivers dont support windows 2003 platform.
