Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USBCustomer Review: From Day 1: Saved on the First Day Summary: 5 Stars
The unit arrived 1 day earlier than Amazon's promised 2 day delivery, thank you very much. I read other reviews where people said that the unit had saved them on the first day they installed it and I said, "Sure, everybody has these co-incidences, right, less than believable". But it got great reviews. One issue stuck out - be sure to buy a unit that equates to the power requirements of your system. So, I spent a little bit more than I planned but I have peace of mind.
I installed the unit the day after I received it, about 11AM on a day when we were to receive 8-12 inches of new heavy snow. Easy install but the graphics on the install directions are soooooo tiny they were almost impossible to read and the manufacturer relies on those graphics to explain the install features. Had it done, powered it on, installed the software and voila! the unit told me that I had not connected the USB cable from the unit to the computer and it could not give me status. All the eye strain reading the graphics was forgiven as the unit helped me get it right when the instructions could not. Cool gadget on the desktop tells me the status.
So, at 8 PM when the power flickered off and on (about 5 seconds of downtime), my Cyberpower UPS did not flinch but kept providing the electrons to my computer. Beautiful! I have joined the flock of those who can offer testimonials of the utility and quality of this unit from day 1. It looks like neither rain nor sleet nor much else causes this unit any concern. My apologies to those I doubted.
Customer Review: It's a great UPS for the price. Summary: 4 Stars
I did some shopping around and decided on the Cyberpower 1500.
I didn't worry too much about features, I simply wanted a reliable backup during a power outage.
I just completed my first dry run test. I had only my wireless router, dsl modem, and VOIP phone unit plugged into the UPS, and it lasted a clean six hours on battery power before I plugged it back in to the wall (with about 5% battery power remaining).
Several real telephone calls were made/received by the kids during the test. Also, moderate to heavy net surfing by three computers was keeping the router active. Two of the computers (laptops) were accessing via wifi, the other (desktop) via cat 5.
This UPS hung in there, like a champ.
I would prefer if the a/c outlets on the back of the unit had a little more spacing, but I managed to get three ac/dc adapters (wall warts) plugged into the battery backup outlets. (There are four battery backed outlets plus 4 outlets that are surge protected only).
With the router, dsl modem, and VOIP unit plugged in, the UPS screen said I have 88 minutes of power. As I stated above, it actually lasted 6 hours. I'd prefer if the indicator was more accurate, but perhaps it has difficulty calculating when the power draw is so low. Also, they may have designed it to purposely error on the low side, so the user doesn't "push his luck" and fail to power down his computer, etc. in time.
Over all, I am very pleased with this low cost and functional UPS.
Customer Review: I am happy. Summary: 5 Stars
Isn't it great when you buy something and it just works? I love when that happens because it does not happen often. I am very happy with Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD. It just works. It looks great, too. I have plugged in my new Dell Studio XPS 8100, two LCD monitors, DSL modem, DSL router, and an external USB hard drive into it and pulled the power cord out - all components continued working as if nothing happened. Estimated run time on the battery? About 45 minutes. Awesome! I would imagine if I only needed to run the DSL and a laptop, it would give me about two hours of power.
The LCD is very easy to read and self-explanatory. If you pull the power plug out, the alarm starts beeping and the fan comes on, but when it is plugged in, it is completely silent and does not make any noises. I love silence. The unit also has helped me get rid of two power strips I was using. Now I can plug everything in Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD. I do not know what else to say, I am trying to nitpick on something, but I really do not have anything negative to say about this product, and believe me, I am very picky and particular about electronics and gadgets in general. If Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD lasts a long time and continues to perform the way it does now, it would not be a stretch to say that this is the only gadget I have been 100% percent satisfied with. If you are considering buying this product and have any questions, feel free to comment on this review and ask something specific. If I know the answer, I'll post my reply.
Customer Review: Probably best value for this class Summary: 5 Stars
There has been two burnouts for the bas month, but luckily, I have this UPS. So far it has been pretty rugged from what it does. I pretty much have my whole room entertainment hooked up to it also including cable, networking, and computer. Everything hooked up usually uses 20 percent of its capacity. HDTV, PS3, Printer/Scanner, speakers, VoIP adapter, modem, network hard drive, and computer are all connected. Estimated runtime for everything is displayed on the integrated screen which is usually around 20 minutes for everything. I couldn't feel safer if there was a power spike or sag knowing that I have everything protected. It is if everything is in a shell and outside electricity can't affect my stuff. I am very happy with my buy but I don't think that I, myself, needed this high powered UPS. I only draw at most 250 W when everything is on, which is easy lifting for this product. Remember, this manufacturer offers up to 500,000 dollars for any damage done to any peripherals connected to it including that of a lightning. Pretty good insurance in case something goes wrong.
Either way, if you don't have anything protecting your electronics, a UPS is one of the most effective ways to do so. Surge protectors can only protect minor power spikes but never burnouts or blackouts. Critical components like computers that should not be interrupted, this UPS goes into battery backup to keep it running. If you care for the longevity of your electronics, consider this product.
Customer Review: Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS-LCD Display Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this product to back up power for my Dell XPS with 24" monitor. I had smaller backups for this system but they could not
hold up even for a milisecond. Not the Cyberpower CP1500. This baby is like solar energy on a bright sunny day. So far this rainy season in south TX we have experienced several power interruptions and the Back Up PS has held up extremely well.
When ever the power is cut off all of sudden theres a good chance some damage will occur to your hard drive, especially if an application is writing to it. Rule of thumb; when ever you loose power, press the F8 key while your computer is restarting. This will give you the option to start it in safe mode where you can run Microsoft's "Check Disk" program to correct any errors to your C: drive, or your other drives. This will save you from potential problems. Learn how to run the program now before you loose power.
The LCD provides lots of control options. Also you can control and see it's status with the desktop software provided, although I think I am going to have to go to the Cyberpower website for a software upgrade, since I just got a script error. I using Vista32.
It has hookups in the back for cable and internet protection. I have'nt tried that part out yet.
It's small, sleak, looks good along side my desktop. Very happy with the quality and the power of this power backup.
