Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB Hub

Customer Review: I hope this helps someone!
Summary: 5 Stars

I use the 64-bit version of windows 7, and I have repeatedly bought and thrown out many usb hubs with external power supplies prior to this one. There are two important features of this hub that make it a keeper. I use a transcend portable external hard drive for backing up all my data and I refuse to give it up for anything because of it's insane durability. This external hard drive, which is the most important usb peripheral I use, requires TWO usb ports in order to have sufficient power to run. My issue with all of my previous hubs, even when they came with ac adapters, was that my external hard drive would not power on with any of them...until I found this one! The other small, but not insignificant, detail that makes this hub better than the rest is the weighted base that actually keeps the hub on your desk (even when I have ALL of my peripherals attached and running) which none of the other hubs I have purchased were able to do. I'm so unbelievably happy with my purchase!

Customer Review: powerful hub
Summary: 5 Stars

Bottom line is that it works. I use it with a Vista laptop and my midi setup. It powers a portable DVDRW, a non powered hard drive, and my MIDI keyboard. It didn't seem to work with my Hercules DJ Control Steel, but that thing is even finicky hooked direct to the laptop, so I don't blame the hub. No delay noticed with the keyboard, which is critical. The power supply gives out 3.2A, which is much more powerful than most powered hubs. The port on the front is handy for a quick plug in of flash drives, which I use to transfer samples and music tracks back and forth with my other equipment. Remember, plug it in and give Windows time to fully install the drivers for it before plugging anything else. Then just plug them in one at a time. My only complaint is the blue LED is too bright, but it's not one of those hyperbright blue LEDS that light up the room, doesn't bother me in my dim media room and it's pointed right at me. The screen is brighter. I can live with it.

Customer Review: Great Buy
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best USB hubs I have ever owned. I have had ones that had a lot of ports but they weren't powered. I have had ones where they were powered but they didn't have enough ports. This has just the right combo of the two. The LED's were annoying the first night that I had it but now I an use to them. They sort of add a cool touch to my room. Anyway you look at this, it is a good buy. Now, I have not had all of the ports being used at the same time but I can tell you that it works for what I have. Since I have a mac I have USB ports in the keyboard but since they are not powered it is like taking up two on the hub. (In one of the ports I have my printer and the other the mouse.) Then I also have a subwoffer plugged into the thing and it works fine. Then occasionally I will plug in my little USB powered fan and use that while using my flash drive and I still have no problem with it. Weather you use a PC or a Mac this is a must buy.

Customer Review: Mediocre USB Hub
Summary: 2 Stars

This USB hub has turned out to not be so great. For one thing, it is the lower speed 1.1 not a 2.0 port hub. The reason I got this was that I bought a newer Logitech camera that takes more power than the previous one I had plugged in. When I plugged the new camera into the hub, the sound worked, the camera did not. Ok, I'll plug the hub into a port that I know was plenty of power when the camera is plugged into that port. Again, the same thing. Wait a minute... this port is fine with the camera plugged in directly but not with a POWERED hub in the same port with nothing else plugged in? Bring leash and take this dog away. It is no better, in fact worse than not being powered at all. In all fairness, other USB devices work fine as long as you don't mind going with the older, slower 1.1 USB, though it claims 2.0. I would not have bought it had I known, and would strongly recommend looking at something better if you are looking for a powered USB hub.

Customer Review: Becoming more of a neccessity.
Summary: 4 Stars

Because of proliferation of USB based products, the USB hub is now more neccessary than ever. If you have multiple USB based devices (printers, keyboard, mouse, flash storage, USB speakers, iphone/ipod jack etc) and want to consolidate all your devices into a one single hub, then this hub does its job well.

This devices works equally well both in Windows (Vista) and Mac OS (Leopard and Snow Leopard).

It is about half the size of a medium sized hand.

Each USB port has its own dedicated LED light. The LED light indicators, however, are little brighter than I would like. It MAY bother those who are extremely light sensitive while sleeping. But a cheap way to alleviate such a problem would be to cover the LED lights with tape.

I used this device as a hub for all my USB devices for my MacBook Pro (2009) and the device works flawlessly, including for my USB speakers.
