Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB Hub

Customer Review: Essential accessory
Summary: 5 Stars

I highly recommend this powered 7 port USB hub over the 4 port model by the same manufacturer. You'll need those extra ports, especially if you're installing an external drive that requires 2 ports to operate. CyberPower recommends that you operate the hub with the included wall wart power supply, even though you can use it without the power supply.

However, if you plug a keyboard with LED backlighting (like the Saitek Eclipse) into this hub, the LED backlighting will remain ON even though the computer itself has been turned OFF. It's a simple matter of plugging the Saitek (or similar peripheral) into a USB port on the computer instead of the hub. Otherwise, you'll have to manually turn off the LEDs, which will light again when the computer boots up.

The lights on the hub itself don't bother me as they have others, but placing the hub out of sight remedies the problem. It has a lifetime warranty, and installs easily with no software to run. I also own a UPS made by CyberPower, and it seems to be a quality product.

Customer Review: Does the Job
Summary: 5 Stars

Like everyone else, the number of USB ports on my new computer was inadequate from the get-go, and I was already using a cheap non-powered hub. However, several of the things that needed to plug into that hub (like an external CD ROM) needed more power than they were getting, and the ports on my system itself were full. Thus, I started looking for a powered hub, and ended up with this one. It's got plenty of power, given that it connects not only to my PC through a USB, but also directly into the electric system via a standard AC plug (leading to the other problem everyone has, with running out of electric plug space, but that's a different review!). It's heavy. This is a good thing, as it provides stability and is a lot less likely to be knocked over by a passing cat. And... it's pretty! It really does look like a jukebox when it's all lit up, and the lights are pretty bright, but it's only about three feet from my bed and it's never bothered me at night. It was no issue to install, and it works. What's not to like?

Summary: 5 Stars

With USB 3.0 on the horizon, I didn't want to spend a lot for a
USB 2.0 hub; but I still needed functionality to handle more than 4 ports, AND ... with two 2TB external disk drives, and other goodies, attached to my laptop, I needed a powered hub. What initially caught my eye was (as another reviewer commented) the "juke box" appearance. I was somewhat disappointed that the green port indicator lights were just green lights and didn't function as true indicators to let me know which port(s) were active at the moment. And, like another reviewer, I like having a port on the face of the hub. I use a lot of micro SD cards from my digital cameras, PDA, digital voice recorder, etc., and having a port on the front let's me plug in a micro USB reader and pop those micro cards in and out as I need them (I'm running Windows 7, so I don't need to ask Windows to "remove" them for me). Data transfers among the hub attached devices is 100%, no lapses, no losses.I'm very happy with this CyberPower hub. I think you will be too.

Customer Review: Helpful, Solid Addition to Computer, but Bright Blue Light Tough to Ignore
Summary: 4 Stars

Over 100 reviews all rate the CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB Hub a good to excellent product for adding usb devices to your PC, Mac; desktop or laptop. I don't disagree. I think it works as promised, and is well-built by a reputable company that backs its product with a lifetime warranty. I like the solid base and the layout of the device. It's powered (AC) and adds 7-ports to all my computers with plug-and-play compatibility. No driver disc or software to mess with is great. Mine is already full and it makes me wonder why I waited so long to get it; swapping things out instead of using a hub.

So what's wrong with it? I give this product a 4-star rating only because I can't shut off the blue power light, which is so bright, it illuminates my home office as well as any night-light! Since the room doubles as our guest room, it would be great to be able to shut off that light without unplugging the device.

Customer Review: Very good product and worth the extra money
Summary: 4 Stars

Although this product is considerably more expensive than "cheap" USB hubs it is well worth the money. After tiring of buying $15 USB hubs that could not even last one year, I decided to splurge. The decision was well worth it. This was so for a number of reasons. First and foremost the product is well made and durable (at least for a USB hub). It is not some really cheap piece of plastic or hastilly assembled collection of aluminum pieces that will last only a few months. Secondly, the USB hub ports are adequately spaced from each other. They are not 0.0001 inches from each other. Hence it is relatively easy to attach/detach usb cables very quickly and with minimal effort. Thirdly, the product looks aesthetic. Fourthly, the product has a light that lets you know that it is correctly plugged in working. Fifth, the size it nice. It is neither too large or too small.

The only weakness of the product (and why I give it four instead of five stars) is the fact that it does not include a warranty.
