You can't use it, and why? Because the plug in makes a high pitch, high frequency noise, that will give you a head ache beyond belief. If it is plugged in, as a powered USB hub is needed to be, it will make this noise. The hub wasn't recognized by my older Pentium 4 and couldn't be used. This may have been because the system was older and perhaps not USB 2.0 compliant using Windows 7 32 bit--which is a must. It works great on a newer Windows7 64 bit system that apparently is UB 2.0 compliant.Customer Review: Great little hub

I got this hub based on other Amazon reviewers' comments, and am glad I did. It allows me to plug in more than one WD Passport external drive (three at once, in fact, plus my thumb drive!) and has not given me any issues at all. I've been using the USB hub for about a month. It's working exactly as I expected. The lights probably are a bit bright if you're sleeping in the same room, so you'll want to turn it off in that case (or cover the lights somehow - some electrical tape might work).Customer Review: Works great, lights are functionless overkill

Works great so far with 7 high draw USB devices. Not a hitch. My only gripe is the LED's which are too many and too bright. I have my hub on my desk for easy access, but the lights are distracting and annoying. Covered them with electric tape. Problem solved.
