this unit was recommended by a number of folks, including reviews on this site. it's supporting an imac & some external disks plus a modem, switch, & router. seems fine with that load. its lcd monitor is unnecessary but interesting.
UPDATE: we've had a number of pg&e incidents this summer. this ups didn't even blink. my fileserver, network infrastructure, & imac all stayed up without a problem. this unit is as good as other reviews indicate.
FURTHER UPDATE: i've done a number of shutdowns of power plus had more pg&e reliability incidents. this ups switches over seamlessly. it definitely is a good unit.

I bought this unit to replace another major UPS brand that died. Considering the features and smooth operation so far, it's a great buy. The unit came charged and ready for operation - a pleasant surprise. The software works very well with 64bit Vista and I was able to schedule daily shutdowns and startups - a nice green feature. In a basic test of the system (disconnecting the power cord), it reported that it would hold my computer and monitor up for about 22 minutes. I left it disconnected for about 5 minutes, and assuming linear drawdown, the prediction seemed to be about right. The units LCD and PC software provide interesting information but the bottom line is that the unit does its job smoothly and you can for the most part forget about it, which is great. If we need another replacement UPS in our household, the Cyberpower brand will be at the top of the list.Customer Review: Good Product

I used to be a APC advocate. But with the price points of CyberPower it was hard not to try. I usually only pick model numbers from the top of each category. In CyberPower's case, CP1000 or CP1500. I did not find a major price difference within each category's models to choose from.
I probably purchased and installed 7 or 8 CP1000s and 4 or 5 CP1500 based on the amount of connectivity and critical uptime needed.
To this date, I only had 1 DOA unit (a CP1000). As always a pain to have to ship a product back, after receiving a RMA, CyberPower was very quick to diagnose the issue and perform a RMA.
Overall, very pleased with the product(s). Like the LCD display along with the automatic voltage regulation feature. The basic software included is easy to understand, although I wish it had email alerts.

I purchased this UPS to provide a short amount of battery time for a few network devices and a NAS. With the network devices and a NAS plugged in, the UPS shows 35 minutes of runtime when on AC power. I've tested it by unplugging the UPS and noticed that the time goes down to about 22 minutes.
I also have this connected to a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ and the NAS is able to monitor the runtime of the UPS and shutdown once the UPS reports a certain percentage of battery remaining. This is one of the reasons I purchased this UPS so it's good that it functions correctly.
Pushing the power button on the front will turn off the UPS without warning. I've had a few other UPS devices that make it a little less easy to turn off by making you hold down the power button.

BUYERS BEWARE. CyberPower CP1000AVRLCD, is one piece of JUNK. BUY APC Products. After two weeks of service the CyberPower Unit shut off and won't re-start. Contacted CyberPower and they won't honor their three year warranty. In a written email, they agree that the unit was defective. They informed us, we would have to send the unit back to the vendor were we purchased it. VERY, VERY disappointed with Amazon. According to Amazon, I can't return the unit since I didn't keep the original packaging (Shame on me). I will never buy another CyberPower product. Spend the extra $30 and get a quality APC unit. I have been a long term customer of Amazon and I will consider long and hard before I purchase items from Amazon again. Again, BUYERS BEWARE of both CyberPower and Amazon.
