Customer Review: Great UPS!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to hand it to CyberPower. They've done a great job making an easy to use, power efficient product. I own numerous uninterruptable power supplies and this is my favorite. Let's face it - most power supplies do what they're supposed to do - give you emergency power when the power goes out. But after you've had a few UPS units, you realize that there are subtle differences that become important. First, many UPS devices have voltage regulation, offering clean power. My old (Belkin) battery backups had this feature too, but they got so hot, you could hardly touch them. These models waste power, heat up your room, and one even melted my carpet. I'm pleased to say that the CyberPower replacement unit runs nice and cool and is therefore much more energy efficient and safer.

Second, the software that comes with the unit is a breeze to install and operate. It installed flawlessly, took about 1 minute to configure and I was done. This was the ONLY software that I could find that works on virtually every version of windows, including Windows Server 2003. I can't say that for any other brand. In fact, the software that came with my old units would regularly quit working until the computer was rebooted.

The only complaint that I would have (and I think my complaint is universal) is that on some CyberPower models, the plug spacing isn't optimal, but I don't know what you do about it unless you make the unit larger. As most computer users know, those ridiculously large DC plugs are hard to plug into small spaces. I guess I would prefer less "surge only" outlets and more "battery back-up + surge" outlets.

Overall, this model gets a 10 out of 10 from me. A functional, well-engineered, attractive product at a reasonable price.

Customer Review: It's a UPS. And blue. Yeah.
Summary: 4 Stars

So it's a UPS. And it connects to your computer or whatever. And it has blue LED's. Everything has blue LED's. If you bought an electronic device between 2003 and 2010 it's got blue LED's all over it for some reason.

Power? BLUE!
Fault Indicator? BLUE!
General Data Readout? BLUE!

Yep, for some reason red and green LED's are out of fashion.

Oh yeah and this is a UPS. It sits there and has blue stuff on it. There is an application you can run on your computer (the icon is green rather than blue for some reason) which will tell you all sorts of stuff about your power like how many jiggawattz you're using and how many volts are being supplied and how many minutes you can expect to compute after the power's out. For reference, my 3.2ghz AMD 64X2 computer with 2 hard drives and an nvidia 9600gt vid card on a 22" LCD apparently consumes around 90 watts in normal operation and I apparently can expect around 30-33 minutes of run time. As an additional reference, I'm not trying to brag about anything, as of writing this review all of those things are a couple years out of date and weren't top of the line ever.

Maybe someday manufacturers will stop overusing blue LED's and we can get to a stage where LED color is relevant to function rather than being a fashion overstatement. And maybe someday my electricity will falter and I can tell you whether or not this UPS actually worked. Until that day, I will just look at adult material on the internet and stare at the 19 assorted blue LED's within my visual range because today's industrial designers are unimaginative and follow each others' trends for no good reason.

Customer Review: It Saves my computers A$$!
Summary: 5 Stars

I decided to get this when i moved to my dads place because he runs a AC unit in the room above mine witch pulls 1200 watts (10amps), and are rooms are on the 15 amp circuit. During heat waves everyone turns on there AC so you wont get your hole 120 volts from the power company sometimes and if you are pushing the circuit to its limits all it takes is one moment under 120 volts to make the circuit breaker go off. Now this would kill the power to my computer, and it would happen on average 4 times a day witch is vary vary bad for my computer so i got fed up and picked up one of these awesome UPS units. I have not needed it that much because the heat waves have died down. But it has saved me a few times already. one time the power to one side of he house just died and my UPS kept my computer running and told me that i was now on battery power, and the 2ed time it was really keeping the circuit from overloading. The voltage to the house was fluctuating for about 2 mints and my UPS unlit was augmenting the house power with its own power to keep the circuit breaker from going off witch was awesome. once the fluctuation was over everything went back to normal. it has a nice LCD screen on the front witch will tell you how much power it has the lode its caring and the voltage its receiving. Vary useful for calculating what you can have on during the time the AC unit is running. IT also has a USB hook up so your computer can talk to it. If you have a mac no install needed the mac already knows just plug it in and its rolling. For PC's theres a CD-ROM that comes with it that has its program on it so you can set it up, and talk to it.

I hope this has provided the information you wanted.

Customer Review: Great UPS - Proven Reliability!
Summary: 5 Stars

Having this UPS for 6 months now, I thought it was time to write a review. I purchased this to replace a Belkin supply that was a little underpowered for my application. This UPS is protecting my main PC, two monitors, and all-in-one printer, plus other various and sundry gadgets.

It arrived from Amazon in fine shape, despite it heft. It's relatively compact, and yes, wall warts would be a problem, but there are little "extension cords" you can get for a buck a piece to convert the wall warts to regular sized plugs. So that isn't an issue for me.

The software was painless to install and is running consistently and flawlessly under Windows 7 64 bit, unlike Belkin's software that this replaced. There is a decent amount of information displayed by both the LCD display of the device, and the software. Though, I would have liked to see more logging capability, but that's just me.

I can attest to the protective capability of this device. Having a standby generator, I really only need my PC powered for a minute by the UPS until the generator switches over, so the overly-optimistic backup time isn't too much of a concern for me. The reason I can unequivocally recommend this unit is precisely because of my generator. During one blackout, the generator's voltage regulator malfunctioned, causing a 600V surge that lasted almost 30 seconds.

The UPS was residing on a circuit that was switched over, and the UPS not only protected all the PC bits, it came through the surge unscathed. Other devices on other circuits weren't so lucky.

For the price, you aren't going to find a better UPS.

Customer Review: So far it's lived up to it's great reputation
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first battery backup I've ever owned but since I work in radio and know a superlative engineer who lets me pick his brain I knew I'd get off to a good start, and since he likes CyberPower I knew they'd be a good risk.

In a nutshell, I charged it fully before plugging it into my system, and believe it or nor I had a power outage that very night! The CP functioned perfectly. I nearly lost two computers over the past 10 years to power fluctuations and with all of the trouble required to recover the information on them, I plan to ALWAYS have a backup from now on.

I was totally surprised, since fluctuations are a weekly event here, to find out that both of my major computer failures were indeed caused by fluctuations and nor viruses as I'd thought. The display on my CP revealed that my power varies unbelievably out of the wall socket, so it's more surprising I hadn't had more troubles than I did. A part of my income is drawn from the use of my computers, so I literally can't afford to have them go down.

I kick myself for having incredible virus protection and practicing good maintenance but only now getting a battery backup.

The only drawback was the inability to use an elongated plug from my modem. One of those plugs that isn't grounded and has the really wide body. Plugs like that just won't fit without covering another plug.

Aside from that, I am very happy with the simplicity of use and reliability of operation of my CyberPower unit and would recommend it.
