Customer Review: Not Mac Compatible w/o pre-amplifier

My apologies to the manufacturer for an initial bad review.
This product is not mac compatible without additional equipment. Basically, most macs have a "line-in" input and not a "mic" input. The output from this device's microphone must be amplified in order to meet the signal requirements of the "line-in" input. The fact that it initially worked at all is testament to the microphones sensitivity - the Logitech that I purchased to replace it produced no input at all.
I was not terribly impressed with the quality or comfort of this headset, but I think it's fair at this price.
I do wish that the product literature made note of this, but since they in no way claimed compatibility, I can't really fault them.

The Cyber Acoustics AC-201 is rugged and simple in construction. Very comfortable to wear and good voice quality on both transmit and receive. works great with Skype and has good audio quality for playing stereo MP3 files.
The lack of a volume control in line is not a problem, as the PC volume control works just fine with it. The lack of the volume control removes one more point of failure, which is why I trashed a headseat that cost twice as much as this one.
I carry it in the original case in my PC bag, but a colleague has one and just wraps the cord around it and tosses it into his bag.
Because it was so inexpensive, I bought two, keeping one at the house and the other with my laptop in the travel bag.

I bought two of these headsets for my small business to use on Skype (our main phone line). The headset which sees the most use broke after roughly 6 months and 120 hours of use. Callers often complained about low microphone volume, even though the Windows mic volume and the Skype volumes are maxed out. The headsets press on the side of my head a bit more firmly than is necessary, especially since I wear glasses and it starts to hurt during long conversations. The audio is great and it's a piece of cake to use - just plug it in.
You should consider using this headset if you don't want to spend a lot of money and don't plan to use it too often, or if you don't mind replacing it regularly with heavy use.
Customer Review: don't buy, brakes too easily

Three weeks after I bought this headset, the plastic inside the microphone handle broke. I fixed it with tape, but it affected the quality of the call (people would not be able to understand me properly, unless I would hold the handle). I emailed the company and sent them pictures of it. they were really nice and sent me a new one. only a few weeks later the new headset broke at the same place as the old one. I emailed the company again and got a second replacement, which is now broken too!
the quality of the plastic that holds the microphone handle in place is not good enough.
if you don't mind fixing the headset with tape once it brakes and then hold on to the handle while you're talking, this is a good headset ;-)
Customer Review: Uncomfortable cushioning!

The cushions on the earphones are too big! WAY too big. They cause the phones to push down on my ears, causing a great deal of pain. I am going to have to make my own thinner covers for them. I just don't understand the use of massive leather coverings, when simple thin covers would be exactly the same. As for 'noise-canceling,' that's a crock. I hear maybe 5% less than I do with them off, and because the coverings are too big, I also get to get the sound of my blood being pumped through my ears.
Everything else about this product is great: wonderful sound quality, the microphone responds well and your voice comes through clearly. It's too bad this is the most uncomfortable headset I have ever owned.
