Creative made a Media player with lots of potential, BUT.
It locks up to easy :o( and it is overly complicated to load media into, and finding the media to play back is a bit hard to start :o(
The play back quality is good with a good volume. You don't have to crank it to the top setting to hear it.
The video looks like it may be good, but none of my AVI's play back on it.
JPG's photos look good on it.
I put and eight gigabyte SD expansion card in it and it holds a few days of music, that's cool. It also has a nice way to index through the listings of music, that's nice...
Over all it's nice, but it could have better software to load, select, and playback media...

This is my 6th creative mp3 device. I like the creative as I am familiar with the format and like the fact that I can use my WMA music files. This Zen is be far the easiest to work with: files are fairly easy to load on to the player, I did have some confusion accessing the media card but only had to reread the directions to get it right, it's fairly simple once you understand how to do it. As usual, the sound quality of the Zen is great, although I recommend getting a pair of decent phones to listen to tunes with. I like Sennheiser, good sound and fairly inexpensive. The screen quality is very clear and vibrant for viewing photos and vids. I am quite happy with the 2gb and can add more memory with an SD media card, the price is right too.Customer Review: Great buy

I bought this product for my daughter. I couldn't afford an Ipod, but was familiar with Creative Labs reputation. It was easy to install, load, convert music to MP3. We have not run into any pitfalls.
Another reason I bought it was because of it's ability to use a portable memory card. This expands its versatility, but allows upgrade. It can be convenient to only store pictures, or only school notes, or just a certain genre of music on a card. Use only the card you want; plug it in when desired. This also allowed me to purchase the less expensive 2 GB product.
My daughter took the Zen to her boyfriend's family dinner. They all had Ipods. But they liked the way the Zen was easy to use.

I listen to books on tape while working out. Audio cassettes are becoming rare at my library so I thought I'd try the new technology. Worked great for downloading books. The screen is easy to read. However... when I stopped listening and picked it up later to continue the book it was inconsistent as to where it picked up: at the right spot, at the beginning of a track, at the beginning of the book, or someplace else (???). This meant I was doing a lot of fast forwarding (which, as I later found out, wears out the battery). The buttons are touchy and I wasn't sure where I should be pressing down.
This would not be a bad machine for listening to music. But for books? A nightmare.

I received this as a gift from my son a few weeks ago, and now I carry it with me everywhere I go. It was easy to set up and start downloading my music, and the added bonus, listening to my favorite radio stations while at work without having to bring my portable radio with me. It eats up the battery quick, so you have to charge almost daily, but it was suggested that I wait until the battery turns red before charging it.
So far it works fine, and the ear plugs that came with it are fine for now, but I will invest in a better pair later. My next thing to do is try downloading photos on it, otherwise its great.
