I bought this after searching for sometime to buy an mp3 player. I wanted to be able to get audiobooks from the library. I like that you are able to have 10 bookmarks. The screen is very clear and bright and is fairly easy to navigate. What I wish the player had were backlights for the buttons. The SD card slot is awesome. It means you can expand the player's capability for just a few bucks. I put my music on an SD card and load my audiobooks on the player.
I definitely recommend a case, however. The screen is VERY shiny and is very prone to scratches. I bought a clear hard case off of Ebay and while it fits very snug, it fits too snug. The case presses on the screen and you can see "swirls" on the screen.
Don't skimp on the accessories, I will stick with brand name, rather than knock-offs.

Got this 2GB version for $60 2 years ago, was new on the market. Easy to see why price hasn't changed much.
Still works great, video quality is superb, battery life is very good, and expansion slot is exactly the sort of customization ability I was looking for, and found.
during these 2 years only problem has been an occasional freeze (~once every 6 months) when the screen goes blank and nothing works until battery is dead. Reset fixes that without the loss of anything.
for those complaining you cannot have playlists and organization in the SDHC card -> yes you can. You can easily create folders and size allowing, have as many different playlists of same songs as you want. (I use original 2GB + a 4GB card and its sufficient for ~6 months when I update my music lists)

well i got this online after much debating on which mp3 player to get. i do not have an apple based computer and was not going to get an apple based mp3 player. i downloaded itunes on my pc for my daughter and it just sucked up the system resources and you have to keep all of your songs that you want on your computer and i dont like that. so i got the zen 2gb player and it does the job i wanted it to. it does have a "cheap" feel and seems to scratch very easily. the battery time is real good and it does not take long to get a full charge. the videos are not the best ive noticed that it will get "blockey" at times and ill re-start it and it goes away for a while. i just imagine one day it will stay "blockey". but for 70 bucks it will work for now.thats why i dont give it 5 stars.Customer Review: My first Creative Zen

This is my first mp3 player ever, I did a lot of research before purchasing this product. The picture quality is just superb, the dummy card in the memory slot was an intelligent idea, I like the fact that I can expand on my memory for this amazingly low price. The sound is good, I appreciate the the option of switching to FM radio when I need to be in touch with the news and weather. I make use of it in meetings and in class for note taking purposes with the voice recording option. Initially i thought looking at movies would have been an issue but its great i have no hang ups.
The only problem that I have with my new toy is that it did not come with an adapter and i think the screen protector should be a complimentary gift as the screen scratches easily.

The Zen is a great device for audio and movie entertainment, as well as storing photos and access to a Radio all in one. The Zen has a very clear screen, wonderful customizing options, nice buttons, and easily-learned properties. Holds charge wonderfully.
Besides this, however, it has frozen on me every other day for the last two weeks and I've only had it for less than a month. When it freezes I have to re-format the entire thing, losing all the information I had on it, and making me re-synchronize it after formatting. It freezes on me when I try to access the SD card, when I try to use the alarm, and on random when I turn it back on.
All in all, despite the wonderful characteristics of the Zen, the daily-freezing doesn't make it worth it.
