Customer Review: ZEN works great, but remember Reset feature

I chose the Zen because it is possible to add an SD media card to increase its capacity, which is the same card I use for my digital camera. It also has an FM radio and microphone. So I ordered the 2GB model, and added a 4 GB card. It worked for about 3 weeks, but then one day I tried to turn it on and it would not respond. I knew it had just been charged. I assumed it had died, so I contacted Amazon for permission to send it back. They supplied a shipping label for me to print out, and I returned it. I received a replacement in about 5 days. As I was re-reading the instruction booklet, I noticed there was a Reset button. Well, in a couple days again, this new one would not turn on. THIS TIME, I pushed the reset hole with a straightened paper clip, turned on the power,and voila, it came on! I just had to reset the time & date, my files were all there. So, the moral of the story is, try the Reset button before you try anything else. I don't know if it would have worked for my first Zen, but I wish I would have tried it. I'm surprised the people at Amazon didn't ask if I'd tried that.Customer Review: Just what I wanted!

I spent a lot of time researching mp3 players to find just the right one for me. I wanted one mainly for books that I could download for free on NetLibrary. I also didn't want to spend a fortune. I am very happy with what I got! I am able to bookmark several books--haven't used up all the bookmarks yet. I think I have 4 books on my zen now with plenty of room for more. I do use the FM radio fairly often--I wish it had AM because I love talk radio! I put some family pictures on the player and a short video. I find the player very easy to use and navigate through--even in the dark.
The only problem I have ever had was when it froze up one time because I ran the battery down to nothing. A couple of days later, I tried to turn it on and nothing would happen. I used a paperclip to reset it and then charged it up. Haven't had any problems since. I advise everyone to put the player on lock mode when listening to save on your battery.
If you are looking for a player for audiobooks, I would strongly recommend this one!
I also bought the charger and case which I use and like.

I've had this for about 6 months and I like it now as much as I did the day I got it. It's very easy to use - so intuitive you practically don't need to open the manual. Aside from being user friendly it works and sounds great.
Audio Book Listeners - This is it !! I promise you'll love it. I have lots of audio books that I listen to and the ability to pause one book and pick-up another ... and then go back to the first and pick up where you left off is great. Not to mention bookmarks. I simply can't say enough about the Creative Zen when it comes to audio books.
But music sounds great also. I listen to lots of different types of music while I run on the treadmill and it all sounds really good.
BTW - If you're looking for a good and Comfortable set of earphones I highly recommend the Brookstone Buds Retractable Surround-Sound Earbuds. Very comfortable - You'll forget you're wearing them.

At US$79.99 (before any special promotion), it's the greatest value mp3 player ever. You have 2.5" 320x240 16.7 million color, smooth and bright video playback, great for video, 97dB SNR, great for music, SDHC, great for expansion/add-on. It has a very small footprint, it can hide behind a credit card! It supports AAC/WMA/WMA lossess/MP3, comes with voice recorder and FM tuner. It's very user-friendly too. Get a 16GB SDHC at US$74.99 and you have a total of 16GB, cheaper than Creative Zen 16GB (US$199.99). If you want better earbuds, consider Creative EP-630 (great bass and noise isolation). If you want better sound enhancement, consider getting Creative Aurvana X-fi Noise-cancelling headphones. Any cons? Yes, the firmware still has some bugs that may need resetting, so be prepared. The SD card has yet to be fully integrated with the main memory. Future firmware upgrades should resolve those bugs and SD integration issues.
