ok be careful with vista. officially creative does not have a vista driver for this one. creative does support vista on other products. this is too old. Microsoft will say it is not compatible with this camera at all. the last driver for it was xp 64 bit. it is hard to find it now. If you have vista you can get it to work with some tweaking. simply download the right driver for your system x86 or x64 in XP format. then here is the secret, right click the driver exe and go to properties. then compatibility. click run in compatibility for windows xp. then click ok and run the driver installation. it will work in vista. be sure to unplug the camera first and then plug it in when asked. and voila, I am using mine in vista right now :)Customer Review: Bad picture

I purchased the Creative Webcam Instant w/Free Headset as a special Thanksgiving sale from amazon. The headset is easy to use and the audio quality is very good. However, the webcam is crappy and gives very blurry pictures. I also own a Logitech webcam for work and it is surprising to note that there is a mismatch between the software compatibility of the two webcams. Apparently, I cannot use them simultaneously. As a result, I use only the Creative headset for voice chats and have stopped using its webcam.
If you are planning to get a webcam for personal use, better try a Logitech: the price is similar, but the picture quality is far superior!

Enough said about bad picture quality. I bought this camera to be used on top of the notebook. When I was looking at the pictures on the internet, I didn't pay attention to the fact that screen of the notebook is under right angle to the table. Well, it so happened that this is the only way you may make this camera look forward, on you. If you are like me and have your notebook's screen slighly pushed back - the camera will look up into the sky. This third leg, officially called "hinged lever" can't hold it; looks like it misses a spring that would hold it in the normal position. It is a good product. But suppliers must indicate that problems can be faced with Vista. However, after some initial difficulties of using this web cam with my Vista, I could manage to download correct drivers and use the item. Until the resolution of this issue, this deal was one of my worst deal. But after getting over initial hitches, I am finding this product as an ideal deal and value for money. The headset supplied with the cam is an ideal add on and that too at no extra cost. Suppliers should give clear indication regarding dependencies on Operating System of the target machine.

This is a good cam as far as images, ease of use, and easily installed on computer. However it is not secure to position atop a screen of a laptop as it was advertised. It has to be repositioned because it slides and will not stay in "placed position". I did purchase a USB extension and placed the cam on a nearby flat surface, which addressed the problem and now it serves my purpose for chatting, or other purposes. It works beautifully on my desktop, without the problem of positioning. But for laptop, it is an issue that needs to be realized before purchasing.
