Customer Review: Small, easy, cheap and perfect for smeary video

This little guy has been a lot of fun. I hated using my old camcorder because it was (comparatively) big and bulky and had too many wires and attachments and was next to impossible to get video on my computer. However, it DID take beautiful pictures.
The Vado is great in almost every way. It's brain-dead simple to use. It's unobtrusive. It's cute. Your fingers won't get in the way of the lens. You can actually see what you're shooting with the built-in screen. Unfortunately, the built-in screen may be one of the best ways to view your video because when you put it on a decent sized screen it doesn't look so hot.
It's the perfect tool for posting to YouTube or making a "talking head" video. You want to document your vacation? Not so hot.
Still, I'm giving it 4 stars. I recommend download Pinnacle's VideoSpin to edit your footage. It's free (although you'll probably want to cough up $15 for the codec package). It's also amazingly easy to use. They work well as a team.

I bought this as a gold box deal, and was very excited to get such a great price for such a neat little gadget. I bought it as a starter video camera for my son, but was very disappointed to open the box and read the lead warning on the side, asking users to wash hands thoroughly after each use.

I have since contacted the company, and wanted to post their reply:
"I assure that there's nothing to worry about Creative products. This warning has been included to comply with Californian legislation (Proposition 65) as the cable bundled with your device contains a very small amount of lead to keep the copper wire and plastic cable more malleable. This cable design is very common and used in practically all household appliances. In our testing the average lead content of our cables is between 100 and 300 parts per million (ppm), significantly lower than inmany household appliances at 1000 ppm."

Firstly, I'm not at all technical, so my review is purely from a layman's perspective.
I bought this video camera as a gift for my husband primarily because we were going to be travelling and didn't want to take our larger videocam.
The major positive things I can say is that this camera is extremely compact, very easy to use and easy to charge. I had also purchased the charging unit but we took a laptop computer with us, so ended up just charging the camera while using the computer.
My husband was able to carry the camera in his shirt pocket, making it easily available for those moments that we wanted to capture. The picture quality isn't as good as our larger camera and the functions are limited, however it was perfect for our purposes.
I recommend this camera for anyone who wants a simple to use, lightweight camera for a reasonable price. We're very happy with it.

Very nice product for a low price, has some disadvantages in that it does not have all the "bells and whistles", but what would you expect for the low price or size. Very nice for video notes, casual times, and fun with the kids. Editing can then take place later. Battery runs out quickly and the screen is small. Would not use this if I was serious about doing a video to impress anyone with my creative skills. It is a small thing, limited controls and zooming, sound is medium. But, I can carry this in my pocket and get it going in very little time and record an event with very little effort or thought. No hassle or worry. Just fun and convenient with instant gratification! The first one I received had the power button quit working after less than 15 minutes of use but Amazon quickly sent a new one that has so far worked very well each and every time I have tried to use it.Customer Review: i didn't even know this product existed

i'm glad i was introduced to this product. it is extremely easy to use right out of the box. i like the big screen and also the big area that it has for my hand to hold it ....so it won't get in the way of the screen. once i connected via usb to my computer,i was able to upload to youtube with no problems. the quality of the video was also good, not great. kind of grainy but then again i was using SP mode so i could have 2 hours recording time. it's very slim and lightweight and the kids have had NO problems using it either. i actually have picked it up and used it MORE then the flip mino and the rca small wonder. i loved it!
