I had the Flip Ultra before I bought this, which costs almost twice as much, and is bulkier, and takes AA batteries. So I thought this might be a good replacement.
Unfortunately, the microphone on the Vado is worse, and the picture quality in low light situations isn't nearly as good. It's cheap, and fun to play with, but I've recorded stuff that would have turned out great on the Flip that was unusable on the Vado.

This mini video camcorder is slick, easy to use and captures great video. Downloading the necessary software in order to view the videos on your computer or laptop is quick and painless. A snug little carrying case and more sensitive low light capability would make this video camera unmatched at this price point. I bought my Vado after reading reviews here. It came quickly, and it was easy to use pretty much out of the box. My only concern is the sound quality. It is quite distorted on mine. I'm not happy with this, and am likely going to use my Nikon Cool Pix digital camera to film the short videos I need for school. Got this for a gift for our teen, they loved it! Small enough to take along every where and simple enough to upload to computer and share videos. Only thing found fault with is there is no light, so hard to film in low light/dark areas....but the kids at school love it, especially the drama kids making their own videos and to practice and see themselves in what they are doing for their part....Customer Review: Where's the color?

We are disappointed with the recording quality of this item. We do not want the recorded memories of our child growing up to be recorded with this camcorder. Specifically, the colors are bland and lifeless. One of us referred to it as almost black-and-white. And as others have stated, the audio is poor as well. We like Creative and were disappointed.
