Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Creative Hard Plastic Case for Zen, Zen MX (Clear)Customer Review: Great case with nice stand, but there are some drawbacks Summary: 3 Stars
It's a very good strong case that feels like I could throw it against a brick wall. I use the stand that is built in to the case daily and it really helps when shareing videos with friends. I also really like the removable belt clip. For those who don't usually carry some form of bag around with them, an MP3 player isn't a priority to shove in to your pocket.
While I'm glad I bought it, it does have some drawbacks. It doesn't make the device much bigger, but considering how small it starts out the difference is very noticible. The buttons are slightly harder to use when not looking at the device (i.e. If the device is in a pocket or hooked to a belt loop). The screen isn't nearly as nice looking with the cover on as the cover itself scratches easily and gets so close to the screen that it creates visable air bubbles. The worst thing about the case is the fact that not all headphone jacks work with the case on. The headphone jack becomes recessed much like some IPODs. My Shure headphones work, but every time I want to plug my ZEN in to my car I have to remove the case.
Like I said - I'm still happy I got the case. I've droped the device maybe two times, but I'm just happy to know that the pretty ZEN itself is unharmed.
Customer Review: Creative Zen's Plastic Case Summary: 3 Stars
I love everything about the case except that I have had it for less than a month and it already has marks on it. I carry it in my pocket or in a little soft bag I got that holds my earphones. Nothing that should cause this worn look to it but it looks like it went through the mill. Not deep scratches, just fine lines. I would have thought that the plastic would have been made of more resiliant material. As long as I am only listening to music it isn't a problem but when I go to watch a video it is annoying. I paid $20 and feel that it cost less if it can't handle the easy wear and tear that I give it. It would be different if I was using it in an environment that would explain the kind of mars it has on it. Maybe they will make a new and improved case made of stronger material.
The ring is great because I can hang it on my belt loop and it isn't in the way with easy on/off/pause capability. I use to have to put the Zen in my pocket and it difficult to turn it off/pause it or it got tangled up in the earpiece cord.
I love my Zen, it has been great at work to listen to music instead of the noise of my co-workers. The case has made it easier to do that.
Customer Review: Nice Clear Case for the new Creative Zen Summary: 4 Stars
For those that own a Creative Zen 4GB, 8GB or 16GB, this is one of the best all around cases available from the manufacturer at this point. Everyone has their own preference. A leather case, a silicon case and an armband holder are available as well.
The case has ports for your jacks and allows you to access all your controls. The built-in stand is a nice touch, and the attached keychain may be useful for some. I think most people will keep the unit in their pockets or bags.
The case is good at remaining very clear. It doesn't have the cable managment features of the silicon case, but that probably was not an option with the thickness of the acrylic. This case adds at least 1/4 inch to the player. This is a trade off for safety.
The real test is the "drop." This case has held up to some light drops by me, but somehow I still feel nervous about it. I would recommend not testing it too much yourself. Treat it well and it will hold up nicely, protecting your player from scratches and dents.
If you want a clear case this is the only one available from Creative at this time. Enjoy it!
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 4 Stars
The Hard Plastic Case for the Zen media player is almost perfect. The case provides excellent protection for the player; only the control buttons and connection ports are exposed for your headphones and USB. The red carbine is great for either attaching to a belt loop or hanging from a lanyard around your neck. It works so good that I almost never take mine out of its case. The kick stand on the back is great for when I'm a passanger on the road and I want to watch a movie (You MUST sign-up for Amazon Unboxed if you have the Zen. It takes the player to a whole higher level of convenience.) There are only two things that I'd want to improve: 1) The screen on the Zen presses against the inside of the case, causing a slight blurrieness where the contact is (not a big deal), 2) The case could really use a side belt clip on the back of the case so it could be latched on like a cell phone in case the carbine isn't the prreferred way of toting around the player. If you're going to create such a kick butt case, why not go all the way? I'd have gladly paid an extra $5 more if it had a belt clip. All in all, great player, great case and great price.
Customer Review: Good Protective Case, But Blocks SD Slot Summary: 4 Stars
The "Creative Hard Plastic Case for Zen" is solid and well made protective shell for the Zen. The crystal clear case fits perfectly on the device, protecting the screen and body, while leaving MOST of the important buttons and ports open. The noticeable exception that the case covers the SD expansion slot, which is an issue for me since I have the 4gb version of the Zen and intend to use SD cards for video.
The case has a built in stand that folds flush with the body when not in use. This is a nice feature and actually is very useful.
The metal ring clip is sturdy and works well. It is useful for connecting the Zen to a belt loop or backpack strap. No issues with this clip at all.
Overall this is a great case, with the exception of the blocked SD port. Recommended, if the SD port problem is not an issue for you. Also see Clip-on Case w/ Belt Clip for Creative Zen, Clear, this provides access to the SD slot, but does not have the metal clip.
