Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Creative Labs Vado Pocket Video Camcorder (Silver) OLD MODELCustomer Review: Simple and Cost Effective .. Tough and Interesting Hardware Summary: 5 StarsI purchased the Vado normal resolution to use for making video under circumstances that I would not want to put my expensive video camera through. The Vado is tough and does a great job for a little money. Like all cameras it needs light to make good images and it does well indoors under daylight (6500K) fluorescent lights. Nice wide angle lens for close up shooting. I put my Vados in harms way and they keep on ticking. Great for children I suspect but no experience there. The Vado is the point and shoot of video cameras but sometimes that is all you need.
Customer Review: Vado by Creative Labs Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great product for the price. Of course it won't do what more expensive camcorders do but it is not intended too. It is intended for ease of carrying. You don't even know it is in your pocket. Ease of operation. All done with one thumb, and the buttons are conveniently placed. Use it a half dozen times and you don't even have to look at the button disignation. You already have their function memorized. Ease of playback on the screen, on PC, or TV. The video, although not great, it is acceptable. I have been taking some fall colors from scenic overlooks and the pictures are great for a $47.00 price tag.
Customer Review: As essential as a cell phone Summary: 5 StarsI have a pair of electronic necessities now, one for organizational and communication optimization (cell phone) and the Vado for "receipt taking". Yeah, imagine that, having a receipt of all your most treasured interactions, but not simply capturing one instant, but those situations that demand 30 frames/sec for many seconds, minutes, or hours!
Sad story though -- I am a student making $12k a year in a Biotech lab, so the $50 for the camcorder was cha-ching for me. On an AA flight, I left my beloved Vado in the backseat slot! Oh man, what a bummer. It's gone until I save another $50, and worse, the videos of myself and bestest conference buddies are missing too :(
I plan to buy another...maybe in March 2010.
Customer Review: Gift Summary: 4 StarsThis was a birthday gift for my grand daughter, she is a senior in high school. So far she is enjoying the motion camera and has used it in a science experiment. Technically, at this time I can't add any useful information.
Customer Review: What's the point? Summary: 2 StarsThis review is subjective. I'm on a pc. I bought the VadoHD primarily for the purpose of making and experimenting with super low budget HD films. The logic escapes me why you would create a video camera using avi format where you cannot use the video in any video applications (quicktime, Sony Vegas, After Effects, Premiere) or convert it to mpeg4. What a waste!
