Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby DP-102 10-Inch Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with Built-In MP3 Player

Customer Review: Widescreen can be annoying
Summary: 3 Stars

Of the 10,000+ pictures I could put on a memory card for display, only 100 or so (scanned in from negatives) fill this display sideways. For some reason I thought it would be OK for the majority of my digital pictures to be 4:3 instead of 16:9. Now I realize I am highly annoyed by the blank areas on the left/right left by 4:3 pictures. I am not going to change my format either because 16:9 is a huge waste of display when a lot of your photo art is taken portrait versus landscape.

The random seems to start from the beginning (same seed) when you turn it off in the evening and turn it back on the next day, thus you see the same thing, over and over (i.e. I have 400 loaded on an SD card but see the same 60 or so during my limited viewing time).

Customer Review: Good value despite some quirks (10" DP-102)
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought several of the 10-inch DP-102 as presents and am presently surprised. The LCD is very bright and sharp and the colors are very vivid, a rarity among digital photo frames (I have a 15" Westinghouse which is double the price but this beats it in picture quality).

PROS: Excellent screen. Large, vivid, and has a decent viewing range for LCD. All the media card slots you need (SD, CF, etc). Infrared remote comes in very handy. Nice black or white interchangeable frames.

CONS: Strange 800x450 resolution. For best viewing you should resize/crop your photos to this size to use the whole screen. No onboard memory storage, but media cards are so cheap now anyway. Probably USB 1.1 as it copies very slow. Limited remote range.

Customer Review: Poor Reliability and Service
Summary: 1 Stars

After the first week I was very happy with this unit. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. But, after 2 weeks the remote died. I called technical support and after going through some debugging they agreed the remote was defective so they gave me a procedure to submit a claim for a new remote under the warranty. That was a month ago. I am still waiting for a new remote and when I called this week they stated it could take another month. In the meantime the unit is useless, unless of course all I want to do is a static display of 1 photo. The remote is required to access most of the menu items.
The remote dying after a week I could chalk up to me being unlucky but the poor service after the fact is inexcusable. 1 star. Buyer beware.

Customer Review: Coby DP102 - You will love it.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very please with the Coby DP102. This product has many options to display your photos, videos and play your songs. Easy set up. It allows you to take the memory card right from your camera and transfer the images to another type of mediain the frame, love that option. You don't need the pc (you still have that option of course).
It has great graphic display of images.Even improves some of my bad photos.
Sound quality is nice. Good volume, clear, not tinnie.

Only problems I have had are the remote is slow to communicate with the frame and difficulty changing the frame ring (color-black or white). Easy to clean. Very please with the pricing and quality.

Would recommend and/or re-purchase.

Customer Review: Coby digital frame = great quality = great price!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldnt believe the price, & was a little skeptical about the quality. I bought this digital 10inch frame for my parents for Christmas, I decided I should open it & check it out, it was very easy to use. However, there was a pixel out right in the middle of the frame, it was a glowing red dot. I called Coby, they have a policy that if there is not more than 5 or 6 pixels out, they wont replace it. They told me to contact Amazon & they would replace it. I didnt even have to call Amazon, I went to Amazon.com, & within 1 minute, I got an email back from Amazon with a packing label so I could send the bad one to them. They even paid the shipping costs, & sent the replacement in 3 days. Im VERY happy with Amazon, & my digital frame.
