Customer Review: I like what I see now, for the future...it is uncertain

I received this item just a few days ago and all is working well. I am happy with what I see as of right now but I gave this a three star rating because nothing yet is defenitive. It may give out at any time as with any product but I'm concerned because of the reviews of its longevity. I hope I am fortunate enough as the one reviewer that had it good for two years or longer.
I would recommend this unit to someone that is in a position similar to mine and I'll explain. You're receiver has gone out and you need a new receiver to hook your speakers up to. I possess great Fischer speakers (4) all at 100 watts each provide very good and quality sound. I left the speakers in the box it came in because I won't be needing them, keep in mind I took this into consideration before I purchased this unit.
This unit is doing everything I intended for it. It gives me a good looking unit, very slick and modern, I enjoy the vertical format and it plays my CD's without errors. My reasoning for purchasing this unit was because my Fischer receiver of 10+ years of my life finally went out after loosing sound in the right, then months later the left speakers had gone out and needed a quick solution without paying a lot of money. This was it. Believe it or not but this unit, it gives me more crisp sound than my DVD player did. I was using my Xbox of seven years before it also went out, and after the Xbox did I started using my DVD player while I was out of a stereo/CD player for this period of time.
My only concern and I've read that people's lenses don't read the discs correctly and I believe just through my experience already, it is because this unit gets very hot at the top and near the middle of the unit where the Lens is located and then ruins the CD player feature. It gets extremely hot and I don't understand why that is. Especially since its the top of the unit. I don't have a problem with being able to put a fan on it in my large 20x20' studio and that takes care of the heating problem. I put the fan behind the unit letting the fan cool it off. It is made cheaply, certainly not the best material, cheap plastic. I should mention the remote they give you is very brittle and weak feeling. It can only work if you directly point it at the unit while standing in front of it which gets very tiring after sometime.
Overall I'm glad I got this unit because its cheap and it serves my needs.
