Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette AdapterCustomer Review: I rarely give bad reviews Summary: 1 Stars
But will keep this short and sweet -
Cord contains lead and must be handled regularly in a car where there is nowhere to clean your hands after touching the thing.
Sound quality quickly goes downhill with crackling evident after only 5 uses.
Now stuck in my dashboard player because the modular adapter broke off and the cassette will not fully eject. I am sure the husband will be griping the entire time he tries to get it unstuck.
Avoid at all costs!
I scanned past the negative reviews since this product had a few really positive reviews with a lot of helpful votes. Big mistake as now I have to unstick the adapter from my cassette player and try to get Amazon to take it back. (I bought 2 on clearance)
Customer Review: Works OK, but... Summary: 3 Stars
When I first got this product, it worked great. No problems whatsoever in a Camry. Later on, I got a different car, a Taurus, and that's when I started having problems. First off, I had to use the auto-reverse deck fix, no big deal, but then it seemed like it would only play out of the right channel. If it got really warm in the car, then the left side would start to kind of work. After a bit of poking at it, I found that the cord could be an issue on this. The way that the cord comes out, it interferes with the cassette loading all the way into the deck. If I press down really hard on the left edge of the "tape" both sides work, but as soon as I let off, it goes back to only one side working. Also, this thing will warp if left in the hot sun.
Customer Review: I like this one! Summary: 4 Stars
I've tried three different tape adapters recently, with this being the fourth. My car's factory stereo is equipped with an automatic tape reverser which could not be disabled. This was the ONLY tape adapter I could get to work in combination with the recommended Macguyvering from another reviewer here. Now the thing plays nonstop with no tape flipping interference and confusion on my car's end.
The sound itself is a little fuzzy or staticy. I don't notice it much, to be honest. I am not sure if this is due to my cassette player or the adapter itself. It would be better if I didn't have to take it apart to get it to work properly in my car, but after throwing away three other ones in as many weeks, I'm very very happy with this one.
Customer Review: Usually good, but sound comes and goes Summary: 3 Stars
I'm mildly satisfied with this cassette adapter. In general it works fine with no problems, but sometimes if you move the wire the sound gets lower or goes out completely. Like some previous reviews I would recommend plugging in your mp3 player first then inserting the casette adapter into the tape deck. If you don't do that it makes a loud popping sound and usually has more problems on that listen. Normally the adapter works without a hitch as long as I don't play around with the wire, but really that's an inconvenience and the adapter should not have that problem. Also, for you Ipod Touch users, if you move the wire around it goes into Voice control mode, which happens a fair amount, I think this is just an ipod issue but who knows.
Customer Review: Great Product @ Bargain Price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this cassette adapter to replace my old one who's cord got ripped in half when stuck in my door. I get better sound out of this one than I did from my other one that I originally bought for more than twice the price.
The best part of this cassette adapter is that the cord is coiled, and can be stretched to be super long (probably at least 8 feet although I have not checked) yet when no tension is applied (during normal use or storage) the cord is only about 3 feet long. This keeps it from getting stuck in things like car doors or wrapped around steering wheels or getting all tangled which my old adapter did.
I am very pleasantly surprised at this adapter. I more than got my money's worth out of it.
