Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette AdapterCustomer Review: Works most of the time Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great product, for an extremely low price. I was surprised at how well it worked when I initially tried it out. Sound quality is what you would expect from a tape player, it isn't stellar but it's nothing to complain about especially at this price. It has a headphone cable, so can be connected to a walkman, iPod, laptop, or mp3 device which is very convenient.
My only issue with this item is that occasionally the tape player won't accept it, and will pop it back out, but after a few tries, it usually works. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my particular tape player as I have not tried it in any other, or whether it is a product flaw. However, it doesn't happen too often and isn't much of a hassle to pop back in once or twice.
Overall, I would certainly recommend this as a cheap yet very effective way of playing your iPod or other device through your car stereo.
Customer Review: If it worked, it would be amazing Summary: 1 Stars
I read the other posts and saw that many people were having issues with the adapter switching sides. I also saw that there were fixes so I thought I would give it a try.
It worked for a the first couple of days without me altering anything (It sounded great too). And then it stopped working and would try to switch sides a few tmes before it would spit the tape out. I attempted to fix it by removing different parts like others suggested here. I consider myself above average with fixing electronics...can repair/build computers, but nothing was working for me. I tried for about 4 days with different configurations of gears and parts...nothing helped. I would turn on my ipod and insert the tape, hear the music, and then it would switch sides back and forth...then spit out the tape.
So I threw it out the window after banging it repeatedly on my dashboard. That part was fun!
Customer Review: Very good product Summary: 5 Stars
After going through many reviews of cassette adapters and FM Transmitters for car stereos, I decided to buy this product a month ago. So far, it has worked great. I am able use my MP3 player in the car stereo using this adapter. This adapter has a solid built and the sound quality is excellent. Its modular design lets you plug it into both front and side-loading cassette players. The coiled cord is also a nice feature. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and recommend it over FM transmitters for car audio.
Suggestion: When you test it first time, keep all volume control knobs at lower settings; specially when you are trying to reverse the direction of the audio play. It plays in normal volume level in only one direction. This is common and expected with any audio cassette adapter. See other reviews for details on the "skip" mode and "auto-reverse" settings.
Customer Review: Works Great! Great upgrade Summary: 5 Stars
I had a Maxwell cassette adapter that i had bought from Walgreens for about 10$ a few years ago. Every time i would attach this to an mp3 player i had to make sure the sound was about 3/4 on the device or it would get all muddy.
Beside for the muddy it would also broadcast the sound in very low quality (even with a good system [Bose, JBL etc..]). I finally decided to look for an upgrade, and i found this with really high amount of 3-5 stars and very few % of lower.
This has been one of the greatest buys i have ever got, its quality is amazing, the feature to switch which side the wire comes out of is a very useful feature for cars that have the tape in horizontally. The only issue i have with this adapter is that it makes a clicking sound while it is in the tape deck (it can be drowned out by music but still can be annoying if the music isn't that loud).
Customer Review: Mass Produced for Quick Revenue Summary: 1 Stars
There can't be many people with cassette players left who actually need this device, but alas, I am one of them. My car cassette player is a Bose, factory installed by Volkswagen (1997). So, when I got through the dangerous mega-plastic packaging (actually did it without cutting my finger), I popped it in the player and watched as it flipped between side "a" and "b" and the ejected itself (all in 4 seconds). In short, when you read the fine print on the package, it says, "may not work in cassette players that have auto-reverse". Mind you, the Sony and Memorex adapters I bought and used for years had no issue with my auto-reverse (aren't they all auto reverse??). Anyway, as I continued to read on, disillusioned with my purchase, I saw also that it contains traces of LEAD (???) in the cord. Made in China, folks, where safety and functionality are optional.
