Customer Review: Coby Wireless FM car Transmitter
Summary: 4 Stars

I received it in the mail in about a week and it looks just as described. There is a thin plastic cover to keep the screen scratch-free that needs to be peeled off (so if you think the screen looks worn it's probably the plastic). I've used this FM Transmitter for about 3 weeks now and overall it works pretty well. I driven to/from Dayton, Columbus, Toledo, and Middletown (all in OH) and I usually have to change stations 1-2 times on each trip. When I have to change stations, it's usually not too difficult to find a good static-free channel (e.g. the very next channel might be perfect or I might have to spend 1-2min. changing stations). I had read other reviews stating they never had to change the channel and while I have definitely had to change the channel, when the station does get static it's usually very minor so if you don't mind it then you might not have to change the channel at all. However, when you find a good channel, it's crystal clear.

Customer Review: Arrived non-operational.

I bought this product in January but didn't have a need for it til June, so it's now no longer under warranty, and I have a piece of junk.

It looked like a promising item, with the plug-in pass-through and the up/down digital controls- it looked like exactly what I was looking for.

It plugs into the lighter outlet and lights up with no problems, but it's not transmitting my audio source to the FM station I have it set to. I mean, the transmitter must be COMPLETELY dead, as there's no "locked in" silence you normally hear with a working FM transmitter. I have no idea if Coby will honor my warranty anymore, but I can give it a shot I guess. I brand new, never used item should not need RMA service though, no matter how long it's been sitting around my house unused.

This is the first DOA product I've ever bought, and I knew it was too good to be true when I saw the Coby name. I should've known better.

Customer Review: Best Transmitter for the Money
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this Coby transmitter for use with my Sansa Clip in my truck. I live in San Antonio, TX, which for the most part does have some clear stations for transmitting through. I have to say I have been really impressed with the performance so far. Next to zero interference and no noticable background noise. I had previously used a Belkin transmitter for the Ipod Shuffle, and while it never had interference, it did have a high pitched "hum" all the time that I had to drown out by increasing the volume of the music. This Coby transmitter sounds very clear even at lower volume settings. As for the build quality, it doesn't seem as cheaply made as others have noted, its a pretty thick grade of plastic, and the blue display is attractive. I especially like the coiled cord that greatly reduces tangles. Considering the price point of this product, you can't beat the performance. And its not impossible to find it under $13 if you shop around.

Customer Review: Best transmitter I've owned!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have gone through four of these types of FM Transmitters. One was powered by the iPod. I don't recommend that type as it sucks your battery dry quickly. The one I am replacing this time worked alright, but was bulky and finally stopped working correctly. I was happy when I plugged this one in and effortlessly synced FM stations and got CD quality sound. Another nice feature is that you don't have to switch it on. When it is plugged in it is live when the radio is tuned to that station and does not affect any other stations if you are listening or scanning other stations. The only thing I wish someone would add is a bit of amplification. Every transmitter I've used requires you to turn your iPod volume up almost all the way and then you still have to turn your stereo volume up much higher than normal. Obviously, if you forget to adjust both volumes down before using either next time, you will blast your eardrums or speakers.

Customer Review: Only one minor complaint.
Summary: 5 Stars

My family brought me out of the dark ages by giving me an MP3 player for Christmas. However, I needed some way to play it on my car stereo. I bought the Coby CA-745 Wireless FM adapter. The sound quality is the same as my radio stations which is good. I live in a rural area so there are a lot of stations available with no interference. My only minor complaint is having the display/controls connected directly to the input. Originally, I chose this one because I thought there would be less chance of it breaking but after trying it I realized that my 12v plug is in an inconvenient spot. I would like the display better if it were on the cord. I can't see the display without bending toward it- not a good thing to do while driving. I have to set it up before driving and if I lose the station I will have to wait until I can stop and fix it. When you're choosing a wireless adapter check to see where your 12v plug is in your vehicle.
