Customer Review: Don't waste 18 dollars on junk.

Sooo i got this about 5 weeks ago. All i have to say it i was really excited to get it, but very wary too. I look at the reviews and saw that the good ones out weighed the bad reviews... ahhh yeah... boy was i wrong. Ok so i drive 15 minutes to school, and fifteen minutes back so i thought it would be a good investment... First of all, it does not deliver clear crisp, ample sound. You have to crank your volume in the car to max. Secondly, the wires suck. if you touch the 3.5mm male end to any surface, it makes a crackling noise over your speakers. if you touch it on metal, its even worse. thirdly, when its plugged in and music is playing, there is a very annoying "white noise" kind of noise... like the noise when your TV goes blank and its buncha gray dots on the screen! so i have to set the to my back speakers so it doesnt annoy the hell out of me, but then i dont get sound all around... so its not a fun experience. I do not recommend this product.
It is cheaply built and wires are bad. feels like they will detach from the transmitter at any moment.
Customer Review: Perfect after you learn a few tricks

First off, this adapter seems to take over the frequency you set it to as long as there isn't a strong signal coming through it. That is, it will completely get rid of slight interference, so the search for a suitable station isn't a tour de force. (Now this is the only transmitter I've owned, but this seemed remarkable).
Second, the sound is perfect after you learn the ropes. All you need to do is 1. not put the playing device very close to you, and 2. try and find the right balance between the playing device's volume and the car stereo's. With a Nokia Express 5310, near-CD quality was reached by setting the phone to 2 bars of volume, and then turning up the volume on the car stereo.
Another nice trick for using this with the Nokia 5310 is that you can actually use this as a hands-free system, simply by hooking the transmitter to the microphone and then the microphone to the phone. It's nice to be able to hear people through the car speakers loud and clear.
Plus, this is dirt cheap. What's not to love?

The product works really well for it's intended use, but there's a few things left to be desired. I selected the product over others because of comparable price and super saver shipping availability. The sound quality is great, and I never have a problem finding an empty radio frequency. 87.7 is usually open.
However, there is no automatic shutoff. You have to unplug it in order for it to turn off. It't not that much of a hassle, but I've used other items that just shut off by themselves after a certain amount of time. It's never drained my car battery, but I've never left it in too long, meaning overnight. The longest I've left it in is about 5-6 hours and the battery was fine.
Also, I find that it doesn't work well in cold weather. It worked great when I first bought it, but as the year went on and it got colder, it didn't work right away. At first i thought there was a problem with the power source from the port, but that wasn't it. I found that if i just hold it for a few moments that it works just fine.

I purchased this after reading all the other positive reviews, and I would have to say, they were absolutely right. I have a Creative Zen and the accessories are harder to find than those for the IPOD. Initially I searched and purchased the brand wireless transmitter. I live on the east coast so it was hard to find a frequency that worked. It was also a bulky product and didn't have the extra charger.
I thought that I would try this transmitter since others liked it. Shortly after receiving it, I took a road trip and realized what I had been missing all this time. I didn't have to change frequencies once during my trip through several states. The sound was clear, it was easy to use, and since it was a long drive, I was able to plug in my Zen while it played.
I would recommend this product to anyone who is having difficulty finding products for their brand (and some who can find the products). It was well worth the cost.

Customer Review: Two TERRIBLE Experiences

After about three months of sheer delight with this adapter, it started working intermittently. After trying to contact customer service for technical advice (kept on hold, told I was 23rd, then 18th, then 9th then told to call back later, wasting over twenty minutes each of the three times), I finally just sent the darned thing back. About two months later a new one came, although I had purchased another adapter that was wired in permanently, so I didn't need it right now. The new one sat unused, and unopened, for about three months and I needed to use it for a trip in another car that didn't have any MP3 plug. I cut open the package, plugged it into my cigarette lighter and MP3 player, it lit up and looked just fine but produced no signal to the radio. I tried it in another car and same problem. This company has a serious problem with quality control and customer service. I just trashed the new replacement unit along with the packaging. I will avoid purchasing ANYTHING that says COBY on it.
