Customer Review: Great Player for Audio and Small Videos

I have used this player for 2 days now and am experienced in A/V conversion.
First off, several comments.
Pros: 5 Star - Durable Build, Large Bright Screen, Great Sounding Audio, Well Thought-Out Navigation
Pros: 4 Star - Plays AVI Videos Converted using included Coby Media Manager using Xvid video codec, MP3 audio codec.
Plays AVI Videos Encoded With h264 video codec, mp3 audio codec (unsupported by Coby Media Manager)
Plays MP4 Videos Encoded With Xvid video codec, AAC audio codec (standard for MP4) (also unsupported by Coby
Media Manager)
Have not encoded MP4 container with AVC h264 video and MP4a AAC audio... but I downloaded a 480x270 mp4 video
and dragged it to the Video Directory in my player and it played perfect. Great choice for quality vids...
Have not tried OGG container although Coby claims this works...
Note: Videos can be encoded with 352x240 resolution and player with resize them to fit screen. (this works)
Higher resolutions also appear to work based on the mp4 video that I downloaded (see above).
Videos are only viewable in the horizontal orientation (preferred anyway...).
Photos: JPEG files look fine. Also support for PNG, BMP, GIF. Have not been able to view TIF, contrary to some info
in some other Internet reviews. No problems here. Files can be larger than 400x240 and get resized to fit screen. Viewable in either the vertical or horizontal orientation.
Pros: Case is sufficient, but you probably want something more substantial
G-sensor is good and can be disabled.
Vibration is good and can be disabled (save on battery)(recommend leave on until you get the hang of touchscreen)
Calendar is good, but entering notes for dates is difficult.
Calculator is excellent.
Support for text files. This is cool, but beware that odd characters show up from files converted to .txt
using Microsoft Word.
Touchscreen: It took awhile to get the hang of this, but after a few hours of testing, navigation was good, but sometimes
erratic. Probably not as good as some others, but the best produced by Coby so far. Navigation thru photos and
videos is achieved by touching and sliding finger across screen horizontally or vertically in either the
horizontal or vertical orientation. You need to play with this a bit. There is a learningo curve.
Navigation via "touch and slide" is available for photos and mp3s but not videos (no big deal).
Battery: Took a LONG TIME TO CHARGE first time. over 8-10 hours. The USB port on a computer is 5V, 500mA and I ended up
using my cell phone charger that is intended for a 3.6V lithium battery. This worked fine. Battery status
indicator almost never showed 100% under the Information Section until I cycled the battery once. (don't panic)
The voltage is reported as over 4V under the Information Section on the main menu.
Cons: No WMV support (wrote to Coby to inquire), touch-screen is slightly erratic, battery status confusing, Coby Media Manager software is OK, but not great.
Overall: This player is great for MP3s and smaller sized AVI and MP4 videos (and MP4 audios... see comment). Disappointed that it does not support the MP4a audio file extension (see my comment, bug...). Support for conversions in the Coby Media Manager software is restricted (not a fault of the product). The touchscreen is totally manageable and should not stop you from purchasing this product. It is priced for budget and the audio/video quality is fantastic.
