Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cheetah Mounts Plasma LCD Flat Screen TV Articulating Full Motion Dual Arm Wall Mount Bracket For 32-65" Displays Up To 165LBS Black With 10' High Speed HDMI Cable With Ethernet Fits Up To 24" StudsCustomer Review: Satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
Just installed for a 46" Samsung LED and it looks really nice. The unit is build solid, parts are nice and heavy and I have no worries that it'll support the TV. It was fairly easy to install as long as you are mounting it into studs (need a studfinder) and have a socket wrench and a drill with drillbits. The instructions also have an easy way to exactly find the center of a stud if you don't trust your studfinder (The CH Hanson 03040 STUD4SURE Magnetic Stud Finder is the best and cheap!). You'll also need someone to hold the base up against the wall so you can screw it into the wall. Also, even if you mount it slightly unlevel, the plate that goes into the TV can rotate so you can adjust after mounting to ensure the TV is level. After I put it up, I hung on it (I'm 150lbs) and it didn't even sag at all so I'm sure it goes up to and beyond the 165lb weight limit. Its a fairly snug fit to the wall when completely pushed in (about 4.5") but obviously don't buy if you want the TV to be really snug with the wall.
When fully extended, there's no sag like others have said...they may need to tighten the bolts a little. However, I did find like other reviewers that its a little hard to pull the TV out easily. I added a little oil to the arm extenders that made it a little easier and I figure it needs some time to loosen up a bit. If that doesn't work I may try loosening the arm extender bolts slightly to see if that works, as long as there is no sag to the TV.
Overall, a great buy I definitely recommend. Don't go buy a $300 - $600 TV mount - that's just a waste of money.
Customer Review: Cheetah mount is great! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this mount to use with a 42" Samsung plasma (400mm x 400mm VESA mounting pattern, 40 lb. weight). The mount is extremely sturdy - I bet that the wall and/or mounting bolts will break before this mount will! This is one of the most complete and well packaged kits I have ever purchased! All bolts, screws, washers, nuts, spacers, and even a small level are included! Additional items you need for the installation: a stud finder, a drill motor, a 3/16" drill bit, and another person to help hold everything in place. My wall studs are 17" on center so the outside bracket holes ( I used 4 bolts total) lined up perfect with the wall studs and the mount/monitor feels rock solid. The articulating arms are a little stiff (better than too loose in my opinion). It requires 2 hands and a steady pull to adjust the television viewing angle - not a problem for me because I don't adjust it often. Overall a top quality product and highly recommended.
Additional mounting note: some of the reviewers mentioned that their wall studs are not 16-17" on center. The cheetah mount also has two mounting holes directly on center. An option for mounting with wall studs 24" on center is to install bolts through these two holes into a wall stud, then use 4 (or more) sheet rock toggle bolts (anchors - some are rated at 30 lbs. support or more each) through the outside holes. I don't know if this would work for a 150 lb. television but I think it would work fine for a lighter television like mine. Just my opinion, not the manufacturers; use at your own risk :)
Customer Review: Decent articulating mount for the money Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased three Cheetah mounts for displays up to 180 lbs for our new home, to be paired with two 52" Samsung displays and one 46" display. My contractor installed the mounts and displays without any issue (so I can't personally comment on the difficulty of installation).
The mounts are of heavy steel and appear very sturdy. The articulation is a great feature, and really makes our great room home theater system work. Our main seating area is centered on a floor-to-ceiling stone chimney, necessitating a significant offset in placement of the TV (we really didn't want to mount it over the mantle, competing with the fireplace). As such, the 52" LCD is mounted about five feet to the left of the hearth. The Cheetah mount permits us to pull the display a foot out into the room, then angle it at about 45 degrees, which makes for a fine viewing angle for all the seats in the room. When we're not watching, we can push it back against the wall (where it can also be seen well from the kitchen / dining area), where it sits about 6 inches out from the wall... not bad considering the range of articulation.
My only complaint about these mounts is that one of the three came through from the vendor with broken plastic knobs. No doubt I should have returned the mount, but I opted for putting it up in my game room, where it wouldn't be visible even when the screen is pulled out from the wall; I just couldn't deal with the hassle of packing up and shipping a 35 lb + item. Check yours carefully when you receive it.
Customer Review: Almost perfect... Summary: 4 Stars
The bracket arrived on time and in good condition. Once I began to install the mount I ran into several issues. 1st: The instruction manual is horrible. The "lag screws" and "lag bolts" are completely incorrect. If you are trying to mount using the drywall anchors DO NOT follow the instructions. It has you use the screws which destroy the anchors...of course you don't find out until after the mount slides back out. It's deceptive because they give you 6 large screws with 6 large drywall anchors then the instructions have you use both together! The inventory count in the manual is also incorrect. 2nd: Leveling the mount is also a challenge...use your own level and an extra set of hands. Pay attention to the level both OPEN and CLOSED. The base plate (attaches to wall) will be level with the bracket in the closed position. Once you extend the bracket, the front plate (where TV attaches) is crooked. You need an allen wrench and socket wrench set up to loosen the front plate and level. 3rd: If you need to replace the drywall anchors there are no spec's in regards to load bearing pressures. The manual has the gross weight at 28 lbs...but this piece feels much heavier than 28 lbs.
Bottom line: Once installed it looks and works great...but try your best to put it into studs or add some "nailer" material (lumber in between the studs) to mount the base plate to....try and stay away from the drywall anchors...and only use the manual as a guide but you MUST use your head for install as the manual is really bad...
Customer Review: A wall mount to beat all wall mounts! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this wall mount for about 2 months and my family loves it. It pulls out almost 2 feet with no sag from my 46" Samsung LCD and the swivel is awesome. Now everyone can see the TV with no problem. The mount is made of SOLID STEEL. This thing could hold a rhino. Installation was a breeze by myself. The toughest part was trying to decide if it was high enough. Highly recommend!!
Side note: Reading the other reviews about the bolts I did buy different 5/16 lag bolts and did not use the ones that came with the mount.
Now a moment about the company that sells the product, Cheetahmounts.com. All I can say is that they ROCK!!! I ordered my mount and couple days went by. I checked the online status of delivery and it hadn't changed from "Billing received" on the UPS site. I called the company to see what this meant and the lady(forgot her name)told me that the label probably fell off the product. She said we'll send you another one 2nd day air and sure enough two days later I had it. Then I noticed that it wasn't the model I ordered and called them back. Once again customer service was outstanding. She said that the model I got,APDAM3B, is better than the one I ordered,APDAM2B. Which I believe after comparing the specs of the two. Then she says, "I noticed you didn't receive your original mount in two days. I'm going to refund your shipping costs". How great is that?? I have never dealt with a better business and will definitely go with this company again for my next mount.
