Customer Review: Great Price. Effin Sturdy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I went with this unit after looking at a lot of wall mounts, seeing prices 4x as high, and reading pretty good reviews here. I have it installed and it is super sturdy, very moveable, and can get the TV pretty close to the wall when not in use.

They give you a strip of plastic with about 10 different screw sets. That can be intimidating to a non-mechanical type. I'm not Mr. Goodwrench, but I'm not a neophyte either. But as noted the instructions really don't do a good job of telling you what you need to know. NOTE TO COMPANY -- STUDY IKEA'S PICTOGRAPH ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS,so that you do away with the 4 language versions and give a clearer picture of what needs to be done!

Thankfully, I had my home contractor in the house and he said no problem. I followed his lead. He took maybe 10-15 minutes. Pretty damn easy, and I installed a 2nd one myself. Our biggest point of confusion was figuring out the bolts that fit the handles for up-down motion. Written instructions were of -0- value. Several screws fit the hole - kinda. I would have probably failed on this, where I think others have said they did. Contractor noticed the screws with the square head that fit perfectly.

I think the levels built into the unit and the extra 'torpedo' level were great. Mine mounted perfectly on the wall and is still perfectly level when the TV extends - thanks to the contractor. When I did the 2nd one, I found the 2 studs 16" apart and drilled one screw hole. Then with my wife and I holding the unit, and checking the levels I marked and drilled the 2nd screw hole. It came out great too.

BTW, those 10 bags of screws are for all the possible combinations of screw hole sizes on the back of your HDTV. You are going to use 4 of the same size screw and have 16 or more in different sizes for your shop fastener organizer.

Customer Review: FANTASTIC
Summary: 4 Stars

I have to say I was hesitant to purchase this item based on some of the reviews. But when I got the package and we started putting it up I was sold.

Installation was tough. It is VERY HEAVY! This piece is completely solid and is not going anywhere with the bolts supplied.
It took my husband and I about 2 hours to install. Most of that time was trying to find studs though so that has nothing to do with the product.

I have 3 complaints which is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

1. This construction although sturdy is very stiff! It takes some maneuvering to move the TV away from the wall and move it around. Do this from the main piece not the part attached to the TV see #2 for why.

2. The piece connected to the TV and Main part on the wall is held on by two hooks and two very small screws. This makes me nervous. They should have bolts at least. I would not recommend moving the tv by holding onto the TV. It is on there and I am not worried about it randomly falling off but I am not sure that it is up to the amount of pulling needed to move this piece of equipment.

3. My third and final complaint. The product packaging and directions were terrible. The screws bolts and other pieces were not marked correctly and the directions left a lot to be desired. THey need to make sure that the descriptions of the pieces they send match up with the letters they label them with. The directions are vague at best. Pieces in the box had no directions at all. We were left guessing and hoping we put it on the wall with the right parts.

All in All I would recommend this product to someone as long as they were handy and had some decent help to install. It is solid and with the two arms I feel safe that it will not come off the wall.

Customer Review: Cheetah Stood Behind Their Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this mount for a summer home we are remodeling. When it arrived I noticed right away that the TV mounting bracket was not square with the wall bracket. Since I had read that other purchasers had this same problem I called Cheetah to discuss the issue and to make certain they would refund my money if the mount did not perform properly once it was installed to compensate for the out-of-level condition. I also wanted assurances that they would extend their warranty since my contractor was 4 weeks behind and we would not be installing the TV right away.

I was dealing with Adam in their customer service department. Adam could tell that I was apprehensive about the manufacturing flaw in the mount. He quickly informed me that they had a newer generation of the mount that allowed for rotational adjustment of the TV mounting plate and strongly suggested that I exchange the mount for the newer version. I agreed, he sent me a return label and in two days I had the new mount.

The new mount is very similar to the first one - a little lighter, has a built in level plus a separate level and includes every possible piece of hardware for attaching the mount to a wall with 16" studs. I believe the quality to be first rate.

Last week I installed the mount and hung my 42" Vizio LCD TV. It worked perfectly. When I first looked at the mount I thought it might be overkill for my 37 lb. TV, but when you get the TV 20 inches or more from the wall you really need the strength to keep everything steady and sturdy. I would not recommend skimping on size.

Cheetah has surpassed my expectations - especially when you consider the mount was $200 less than Sanus and Omni. I highly recommend this company and in particular their Customer Service person Adam.

Customer Review: Installation rough, mount tough
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall, a well-built product. I used it to mount a 47 lb. 47" screen, and it seems very solid. However, as many reviewers have noted, the instruction book for installation leaves out many niceties, and I suggest getting a savvy handyman to help you if you have any doubts. When it comes to marking the drill points, it helps to have already mounted the arm brackets to the back of the display with the approximate center of gravity BELOW the center point of the bracket so that the TV doesn't self-tilt forward on its own. Doing this also helps you calculate the exact height of the bottom edge of the screen from the floor. Lay the mount temporarily in the brackets and measure the distance from the mounting holes to the bottom of the screen, and then add that to the desired height of the bottom of the screen, and you will know how high off the floor to drill the two bottom-most holes.

Fortunately, a hand-held bubble level is included. Having a level built into the mount itself is useless, because you're not likely to hold the heavy metal thing up to the wall while you mark the holes, and once the holes are drilled there is no play up or down in the mount. I simply made sure the two bottom-most holes were the same exact distance from the floor, and then leveled the front of the mount with the hand level after the rear of the mount was secured to the wall. Be cautious with the wrench tightening the leveling bolts, because if the wrench slips off the nut as mine did, you can hurt your knuckles.

The arms are not only heavy, they are stiff in the joints, so I advise you to adjust the side-to-side swivel angle of your screen before you adjust the tilt, and then leave it alone because every time you grab the screen edges to change the swivel, you will lose your tilt.

Customer Review: Just perfect!
Summary: 5 Stars

I did some serious shopping for this before purchasing, as I typically do with most purchases. I have to say, I could not be more satisfied with this product. It is heavy and sturdy, my tv (42" LG LCD) does not tilt at all, and it looks great on my wall. It took me and a helper about 2 hours to mount, mostly because I was very precise about the measurements and running my cables behind the wall. The directions were pretty much unnecessary, and there was plenty of hardware included to make it fit a variety of tvs or wall types. I secured it into typical 16" spaced studs, and it feels ultra-secure. I have no worries that this will stay secure on my wall for years to come, and allow me to upgrade to a larger tv, should I choose to do so. The articulating swivel works perfect in both directions, and I cannot see any noticeable sag. Awesome.

Minor complaint that the wing nuts included to allow for final adjustment of leveling the tv all snapped when I tried to adjust them. Very cheap hardware, but just on those few wing-nuts. I replaced them with standard nuts and bolts I had laying around and it was no problem.

Also, this mount, because of the double-arms, will sit out from your wall about 4 inches. I don't mind it, but it may not be as flush as some customers are looking for. Just be aware if that's an issue for you.

All-in-all, I am in love with this mount. I bought it when it was $68, and considered that an absolutely killer deal. Now they're $53??? Unbelievable. Believe me when I say that the cost does not indicate a cheaply built product...this thing is a beast. I wish I had the need to buy another one! I would definitely recommend Cheetah mounts to anyone who is in the market!
