Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cheetah Mounts APTMSB Flat Screen TV Wall Mount Bracket for 32-55" Plasma LED LCD TV Includes Free 10' Braided High Speed HDMI Cable With EthernetCustomer Review: Good for the money, but be careful. Summary: 4 Stars
I read the reviews and was happy to find a decent tilt mount for a television smaller than thirty inches. However, after I bought the product i realized something pretty drastic: The plates used to mount the television to the actual wall mount were FAR to big for the back of my 26 inch Samsung LCD tv. The mount on the left side worked perfectly, but on the right side, the mounting plate actually hung down so far it blocked a lot of my input jacks.
As well as blocking my input jacks (as some televisions have them in the middle instead of on the side) the same brackets actually stuck out a good seven inches ABOVE my television. As aesthetically displeasing as this is, I don't think I will send the mount back, but I really wish there was a picture added to show users how the mount affixes to the back of the television. Also, the mount comes with several different size mounting bolts, which I was happy to see, BUT there were none small enough to fit my television. If you run into this problem, simply go to your nearest BestBuy and ask for the proper size mounting bolts (your television's manual should have the size listed)
It is a very sturdy product, looks great, is textured so the mount will not screech and slide, and is well worth the money. But be prepared to have some trouble if you have a smaller than 30" television.
Customer Review: Low priced, very high quality, great instructions. Summary: 5 Stars
Price: I have spent a great deal of time agonizing whether to purchase cheetah mounts versus more expensively priced mounts. As I have purchased other more expensive products before, the Cheetah mounts were a very pleasant surprise. The build and quality are outstanding, packaging and instructions were excellent. bolts and screws were intuitively package based on order or relevance of use. I own an electronic studfinder, however, the hints provided by Cheetah are even better.
I am not mechanically driven, but this was possible the best instructions i have ever recieved from a manufacturer on assemblying and installing any product. Just the way the Bolts and screws were packaged made it very easy to understand which order to proceed and which bolt or screw to use and why.
I purchased 2 cheetah mounts and on the day they came, with trepidation began assembly and mounting. The first assembly and mounting took 25-45 minutes, the bulk of which was use to A) read instructions and B) remove desk stand from flat screen. the second took 15-20 minutes tops.
Sturdiness: I think that if i wanted i could swing from the mounts myself and if inclined to do so, could use them as chin / pull up bars.
I intend to install a 55" led flat screen in my livingroom in June and I intend to use a Cheetah mount.
Customer Review: It works, but not as nice as my other mount... Summary: 3 Stars
First of all, this is not a bad mount and will hold a small to mid TV just fine.
Both of these are likely echoed in other comments, but I'll post them anyway.
My 2 complaints :
First, the anchor screws (so it can't get bumped off the mount) are difficult to get to and tighten if you want to have the TV tilted down at all.
Second, it's very hard to adjust the tilt when the TV is on, pretty much impossible. You need to take the TV off, adjust the mounts, put it on and try it and repeat if needed. If you have a location where it will stay tilted in one orientation the entire time, you'll be fine after this setup procedure. However, if you need to tilt it occasionally, it will be a pain I believe.
Finally, for me this was not a problem, but the mount will span your studs and that's about it. You don't get much extra length on the bracket for centering in your room. My studs happened to be in a spot where I was able to center on them and be fine. For most people, you'll probably be fine. Just felt like I should pass it along.
In short, for simple, cheap, basic installs, I would still purchase again because the price is right. However, otherwise, if your situation calls for it, it may make sense to bump up and pay a little extra for another style/brand.
Customer Review: Great Value for the Money Summary: 5 Stars
My parents bought a new flat screen television a few months ago as a spur of the moment gift for the two of them. Since it was spur of the moment, they had decided to wait on getting a mount and just used a stand they already had. Of course, they didn't realize how attractive their new television was to my mother's cats. The cats would jump on top of the stand and rub all over it, sometimes even tipping it over against the wall. After saving their television a few times, I knew they had to get a mount. The prices at the local Best Buy were outrageous, and most of the ones being sold through the classifieds were bad as well. Then, I stumbled upon this mount. It doesn't have the fancy capabilities of the most expensive mounts, like being to pull it away from the wall, or being able to turn it in any direction. It does tilt up and down enough to compensate for any glare from a nearby light, so it's not like it doesn't move at all. My father loved the fact that it came with a level in the box, and it had one along the back support beam to help him get it straight (what he didn't like was realizing that the other decorations and pictures surrounding the television were off center :-) )
To get to the point, this mount WORKS. It holds a 32inch with no problem whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this product.
Customer Review: Little defects made this harder than it had to be Summary: 3 Stars
It is a solid mount, but it had a few minor defects that made the install a pain.
1) There were exactly 4 screws provided for my TV's hole size to secure the mount arms to the TV backing. One of the 4 had metal still inside the phillips groove so I couldn't actually use a screwdriver to tighten it. I had to carefully use pliers.
2) I only had access to one wall stud for the center location on my wall so one side of the wall mount bar I attached with the very sturdy wall bolts. That went well. The other side I used the provided wall anchors. The problem was the bolts were not exactly the right size for the anchor sleeve. As a result, it did not put enough pressure on the anchor so the bolt never fully caught. You can spin it forever. I had to drill out the plastic wall anchors and use toggle/butterfly bolts instead.
3) Lastly, the washers provided for the bolts could have been a bit bigger so they don't easily slip through the holes in the bar frame.
It is pretty solid apart from these issues. These 3 defects doubled the install time for me. If you plan to install in the wall studs this is a great mount choice. I'm not sure how many more of these went out with the defects mentioned in 1 and 2, but I'd be wary of using the included plastic anchors.
