A lot of folks it seems had trouble with this mount, but at $30 you are not going to get a smooth, ball bearing feel, or tight tollerances with pre-lubed contact points right out of the box! My experience ( I followed others advice here on Amazon) was excellent with this stand. I bought an 8oz tube of lithium grease, ($4) and lubed every part of the swivel joints liberally, and I do mean every area, inside and out of the swival points (Obviously not on the exterior). I used about a 1/3rd of an 8oz tube. The mount swings like butter, and no sagging noted. The mounts swivel points are so smooth, I need to use two allen wrenches on all higes to adjust the tightnes as the whole hinge bolt would just spin, and never tighten as it would before using the grease. there are two sizes of allen wrenches provided, and the is a bolt on the top and bottom of each hinge, hence the need for two allen wrenches. Small cost if you don't have them, but be sure to buy them along with the grease if you don't.
Lubrimatic Green Biobased White Lithium Grease, 8-oz tube (10307) One customer rated this 1 star, but for the purpose of this mount, I bought a tube at my local home center, and it works fantastic, plus it's green as a bonus. Read the review, the grease does not do well in very cold temperatures according to the reviewer, but inside the house or warmer climates, it's ecellent.
I do have it mounted on wood paneling, using this type of stand on drywall would certainly give differing results because drywall is fairly soft. I would make a 9"X18" mounting plate out of 1/3" or 1/4" wood/paneling to distribute the preasure this mount applies to such a small area. It's physics, the mount will work on drywall, but expect to be tightening the mounting bolts now and again, and eventually replacing the drywall (Depending on the quality of your drywall, most likely mounting something this heavy will destroy it over time) or moving the mount to another area. Another suggestion stated above would be excellent as well, find the stud, cut the drywall out to match the base of the mount with the cover on, and you'll have a solid, non sagging, smooth mount. If you are handy, You could make your own fancy cover plate out of wood, and paint to match the wall.
For $30 bucks, come on people? anyone rating this mount less than 5 stars is not reading the reviews, description given by Amazon & Cheata Mounts, and is most likely all thumbs, and that's not a bad thing, but don't blame your inadequacies on the mount.

This mount fits the majority of displays in the 23-32" size range and some models up to 42". Specifically, it fits VESA 50 - 200 hole patterns and TVs weighing up to 65lbs. If you are unfamiliar with VESA patterns, these are square or rectangular patterns between 2 and 8 inches per side. This mount provides 20" of extension, 180 degrees of rotation, +/- 15 degrees of tilt, 4 degrees of rotation adjustment, and collapses to 2.7" from the wall.
