Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Flying Alarm ClockCustomer Review: Great Idea... Lousy Product Summary: 1 Stars
Before I give my review let me say that I DID NOT buy this item from Amazon or from the seller here. I saw this on QVC and wanted one for my 4 year old son. I found one cheaper at our local drug store than it was offered for on TV. I got it at Rite-Aid for $[...].
THIS looks EXACTLY like the FLYING ALARM CLOCK I bought there. Mine is made by "Absolutely New". So, if the one offered here is from a different company then perhaps it works... but mine does not. It's a WONDERFUL and FUN idea... if only it would work correctly. GRRR
What the one I bought is supposed to do: You install 4 AA batteries (which it doesn't tell you anywhere on the box or on the paperwork inside by the way). You set the clock, you set the alarm. When the alarm goes off the the ball with the propeller is supposed to launch into the air 9 feet (according to the ads and QVC) and fly around the room while a siren-like alarm sounds until you get up out of bed, find the "flyer" and return it to it's base. Great idea for anyone who has a hard time getting out of bed, right? Only... what mine actually does: I set the clock and the alarm. The alarm goes off- with a half siren sound (like - wee-ooo- but only once then it stops completely) the ball/propeller doesn't LAUNCH from the clock... it falls off to one side... then the best part... the darn thing resets itself to 12:00 for both the clock and the alarm. So, not only did it not fly around the room or keep sounding the alarm until I put it back on it's base but now I have to reset both the clock and the alarm every morning!!! GRRRR
I thought perhaps I got a "faulty" one... so I called the customer service number on the box- oh and by the way the number on the warranty card and box are different- likely a typo- but there is no way to tell which is the correct number so I had to call both. One is a voice mail box. The other is "enter your access code now". ">>>???<<<" So I left a voice mail... three times... on three seperate calls... on different days/times. No one has returned my call as of yet. I went to the website. All you can do there is send an email to the company... so I did... no response as of yet. I'd be willing to return and exchange mine if it is just that I got a bad one... but with no one answering or returning my calls... how do I know they don't ALL do this? Even getting one that launches and sounds the siren continuosly won't be worth it if I have to reset the thing daily. Who wants to have to reset the time and the alarm every day??? No way to know though... so I will likely just return mine for a refund. GRRRR
I only gave it ONE star because the IDEA is a good one... the product itself stinks. GRRRR :(
The only way I can get mine to sort-of work is by going into my sons room and hitting the test button whenever I want him up. I have to HOLD the button down. This will launch the ball/propeller about 1 - 2 inches and the alarm will "weee-ooo" as long as I hold the button down. Of course- it still resets to 12:00 and I have to then reset the clock and the alarm again- every day. GRRRR
On the plus side... we are both getting up on time... Me to go into his room to hit the test button until it wakes him up... only he might only be waking up to my fussing and cussing the silly thing and not the actual alarm itself. GRRRR
I believe that the writing on the box about time flying should come with a disclaimer... time does fly... while you are holding the button down to make it "sort of work", calling customer service to leave voice mails, then having to reset the alarm and the clock every time you use it, you have wasted nearly a half hour of your life each day!!!
Did I say "GRRRR" yet?
