Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of DMS 6-in-1 USB 2.0 High Speed Memory Card Reader Writer for SD SDHC MiniSD MiniSDHC MMC rsMMC

Customer Review: Nothing fancy, but has worked great for me.
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this as a free bonus when purchasing a microSD 8gb card for my phone. Since then, I upgraded phones, and the new phone came with a larger card. So I'm using the 8gb card in this device basically for a thumb drive, and I've had no problems with it. It is great to have for those times you're at a computer with no card reader built in. It is not very fast, though, so if you need a super quick data transfer option, this probably isn't it. You do need the adapater for the smaller formats, but if you use the smaller formats, you should have those anyway.

Customer Review: How Did I Get Along Without It?
Summary: 5 Stars

It turned my SD cards into a USB drive. I love it. I use it at home to transfer files from one SD card to another and at work to keep my files safe.

The DMS 6-in-1 USB 2.0 High Speed Memory Card Reader Writer is Awesome! Using this with my computer's built in card reader makes a simple drag and drop procedure. It works exactly like a USB drive. On most computers it plugs right in. On others, with recessed USB ports I have had to use a USB extension cord.

I am very happy with this purchase and will probably buy another one.

Customer Review: bought it. doesn't work.
Summary: 1 Stars

i bought the reader to work w/ my 8g and 4g micro SD cards so i could backup data to hard drive.

the red indicator light glows on the reader, and an icon for 'removable disk e:' appears in explorer. however when you click on the icon i get the error message: 'please insert a disk drive into drive E:'

in other words, my system recogizes the reader, but not the card plugged into the reader.

regardless, it's of no use to me. and i'm in the market for another card reader. any suggestions of a good one?

Customer Review: Cheap chinese crap
Summary: 2 Stars

I'm now on my 4th one of these only because a friend bought them cheap in bulk and keeps replacing them for free. Basically they work fine for a time but with repeated connecting and disconnecting to USB port they all eventually failed. Maybe about one hundred connections. I guess you get what you pay for. They are not built solid and the PC board inside starts floating around after only a few connections. If you don't mind replacing them frequently then go ahead and buy one. In fact buy a bunch because over time you'll need them.

Customer Review: GOT IT FOR "FREE" WITH SD PURCHASE - GOOD, BUT .....
Summary: 4 Stars

GOOD CARD READER. DOES THE JOB.

BUT! THE WIDTH OF THE ADAPTER WHERE THE PLUG FOR THE USB PORT ATTACHES IS SO WIDE, THAT IT DOES NOT FIT IN MY 2 PORT STANDARD LAPTOP USB PORTS WITH ANYTHING ELSE IN THE SECOND USB PORT.

I HAD A SHORT USB EXTENSION CABLE THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM.

BUT EVEN WITH A 4PORT HUB ADDITION, IT TAKES UP 2 PORTS OUT OF FOUR, JUST BECAUSE OF THE WIDTH OF THE COMPACT UNIT.

OTHERWISE, FAST, QUICK AND WORKS BETTER THAN VERY OLD CARD READER I HAD.
