I bought this case for my 9 yr old daughter's (hand me down) netbook. It fits her HP 10.1 mini about perfectly when closed and yes the little pocket on the front is big enough for the cord. The thing that initially attracted her to this case was being able to leave it in the case while being on the netbook. However in the pictures it shows a much tighter fit when open than it really it.. when the case is closed it fits great, when you open it the corner straps slide down the corners, but that's really not a big deal. Also, there is not room for ventilation when using the netbook in the bag so we've decided that she could only leave it in the bag to use it in public or if she's only using it for a short time.
The only thing that would make it better would be to have a shoulder strap. We had found a similar one that was only a few dollars more with the shoulder strap, but it was faux leather and looked kind of "business man-ny" according to my daughter lol. As of right now her plan is to just put the whole case and all into her regular school backpack if she needs to take it somewhere, which I don't know where she thinks that will be lol.
