Customer Review: Great for "Tick of Death" Data Recovery

I'm a 22+ year veteran at building and repairing systems from Windows based pc's to macs and all flavors of laptops. I must say that this is an invaluable device to have in your toolkit. I originally purchased it to back up data off of laptop drives. However, a few months back I had a mac mini drive with the "tick of death" that would not boot (nor could I access the data) after trying the old freezer trick and various disk utilities.
I attached the drive to another mac via this device and was able to copy the data files off without a hitch. Although I never could repair the tick of death at least the data was recovered.
Tip: If you do repair work, but don't happen to have a mac, you can easily attach the drive and fire up a linux boot cd which will read the file system of the drive and imhop much faster than configuring the network card, etc, for data transfer.
Everyone seems to complain about the manual, however, I found some tips posted on a site after a google search that a third party suggested (don't recall where, just google for it).
Charging a bit extra for "data recovery" on one repair job will easily pay for this device. More importantly, if you can recover a set of family photos off of a clients dying drive -- their gratefulness is priceless.
